Urgent Help, my wife's D2 V8 was running perfectly last week. We've spent a lot of money replacing the engine and having some preventative welding done. As of 2nd Jan it will crank but won't start. Battery was replaced yesterday 8/1/24. Turning the key the the battery light is on and the check engine light comes on later. The exhaust makes pops and bangs.
I really need to get this resolved asap as it's due an MOT in the next few days and she needs her car for work.

Any suggestions for a quick resolution thanks in advance.

Craig.

Was the battery disconnected and a good earth during welding?
do you have good pressure at the fuel rail?

Yes, the battery was out of the car. It was done by a professional welder/mechanic.

Where/how can I check for fuel pressure. I know how to do basic stuff. Plus I'm on a driveway I've got no cover or garage.

It was running perfectly last week.

There will be a shrader type valve on the fuel rail ( visible) if you don’t have a gauge, position 2 on ignition and it should give a dam good squirt ( dont get your face in the way).
Take it all plugs and leads have been checked? Winter is a great shower of weaknesses.

It should have good pressure even with ignition off.. don't know about the d2 but on the 38 you could barely reach it, let alone see it

I'll be checking the plugs and leads at the weekend.

Yes, but when you turn on the ignition it should prime (should it?) so up to pressure.
but yes you are right it should hold pressure for next start.
It’s clearly visible on my 4.6 don’t see why the 4.0 should be much different, Gems though :) .

Just trying to think of things as the lack of diagnostics.
