Not tempted at all ....son in law has a had a horrendous time with a disco 3 2.7
And after 6 different 4x4s over the years .. I am quite pleased and very surprised by the P38 "HMV Ark Royal" as she is known (2000 thor 4.0 HSE with a new turner top hat at 98,000 miles now at 116,00 having just done 6000k since I bought it in Nov )
Most things are now all working apart from quirky EAS features which are frustrating ... would I want a body off 4x4 design .. no bloody way
Driving characteristics are fine for me as its doing its job .. very well.. just done 800 miles tough towing work week for family business as back up 4x4 ... the disco just wilted...

know they can turn into serious money pits, heard a few horror stories with D3s, but then again can be the same with any model , especially if there neglected and not fixed properly , think the wiring gremlins are the worse to fix, seeing some have more wiring than the 7th bridge, lol

must admit always wanted a V8 , nothing like the distinctive burble , especially through a tunnel, lol, been tempted a few times buying a V8 with LPG, only do 2-3000 miles a year

in all honesty though don’t know how they compare in running costs , reliability etc

before i got the D3 i test drove a L322 , extremely nice but ins was outrageous

think we’ve all got our favourites, ie either rangie or disco , hopefully can keep mine running for a good while , also had the pleasure of resolving EAS issues , even something like a fraid wire on a sensor lights the dashboard up like a xmas tree, gotta love em ;)

nice looking P38 by the way
