Hi all general question, I was looking to upgrade from my 98 p 38 diesel auto, to a l322 but reading the forums, are the auto boxes so bad they generally give up at 80 to 110 k?
Plus are the engines as bad as the forums seem, bad cranks,
Think I'll stick with my ole p 38
 
the gearboxes are always up the crapper ;)

The GM5L40 and ZF5HP24 are crap, to put it lightly. ;)
 
I would defo want one with timing/vanos/Gbox already done. You get problems with front control arms and nonsense that won't happen on a P38.

IMO-
P38 is a RangeRover,
L322 is a RoadRanger.

I would like the seats and cards in my P38 though. Interiors are as nice as Henry's

Seats are surprising the P38's seats are comfier, atleast for my frame ;)
 
Part of the reason I bought my P38 was the seats. Can't manage a Defender since I crashed and did my spine in. Just as capable but more refined, and yes the are velour
L322 interiors are gorgeous to look at but I don't like the tic-tac style dash
