Hi All
Please help if you can. I am at a total loss with this now.
1996 P38. Owned in since approx 2010.

It went into an independent specialist for an MOT and passed back in November. Then they fitted Terrafirma side steps. As I picked it up an EAS fault appeared and they have not been able to fix it since despite lots of time fault finding. All was perfectly ok before.
They have checked all the airlines, and nothing is damaged from fitting the steps. The problem seems to be around the BECM talking to the ABS and EAS modules. I cannot understand this, it's all been fine for many years.

Has anyone got any thoughts on what may be causing this so strangely and suddenly after the work carried out?

My problem is the car is now 150 miles from me so to go do anything myself means planning it carefully. I can run the diags I have, but I am sure it will not report anything more than they are getting, which is modules not talking to each other. I have not tried EASunlock on it yet. It always used to work for me for the EAS module. But I am worried about this comms problem to the BEM and ABS.

Any advice welcome.
Thanks
Where is the car stranded, maybe there is a local Nanocom

The bag can separate from the end cap if it is jacked with the bags hanging at access, ask me how I know..........
If you are at standard height it is usually ok, best to jack under the axle as previously mentioned.
I always make sure the car is at standard height nowadays and so far no problemo

My point was if non standard shock are fitted the dangling axles can over extend. With standard it should be ok.

I wonder if the EAS ECU error made them think sensors were faulty when they were ok. The EAS maessages can be wrong.

Thanks for the tips all. I am going to go along with a multimeter and check the following:
12v getting to the compressor.
Check the pressure from the compressor.
Check valve block exhaust.
Continuity of pressure switch - open circuit below 120 psi and closed circuit at or above 140 psi. + or - 7 psi at either end.
Continuity thermal cut out - Should be closed circuit.

I may take the emergency valves recommended, but I should be ok to drive it the 10-15 miles back to a family member's driveway to park it on then do more tests/repairs.
I may also get a new compressor. I know the one I have is original and has been repaired a few times.

Take it from there. Update maybe over the weekend.
Cheers

You should ask @kurtjohnson10 if he has any compressors and/or rebuilt items he often does and by all accounts his are good.
You may still find its an easy fix.

If its on the stops 10-15 miles will kill the stops and your back, I would arm yourself with1 of those emergency kits TBH.

Years ago when it first failed I drove it over 50 miles very slowly. All was ok. 10-15 is nothing, besides I cannot order the emergency kit and it arrive in time for me, it will be 2-4 days late.

When I first had mine, I drove about 50 miles with a caravan on the hook at low speed. No damage to the stops or anything else.

It is quite possible to drive it while on the bump stops. I have done more than 100 miles this way. Just slow down when coming to uneven surfaces.
