If I unlock the motor and try to get in the rear o/s passenger door the, excuse this but I can't think of a better way to descirbe it at this time of night, "knob" and I don't mean the driver :D drops very slightly as I pull the handle and locks the door again, the only way to get in is to reach around the drivers seat and pull it up!!

You need to replace a spring in part of the mechanisim.

You can get them on eBay, never bought them, fitted them etc... but thats the fix for this problem. They come as a set I think.

wrong answer disco maniac, its the actuator for the central locking on that door that is ****ed. either replace the actuator or put up with it ;)

ive had this on three of my 5 doors in the last 12 months, its a small round spring in the lock mech that hold it either locked or unlocked that has worn thin and snaped . you can buy on e bay individualy Item number: 140020512607 findly to fit but not hard

regards

check tha actuater is working first by pressing the remote and see if the button moves, when the spring has gone the mechanism unlocks with the actuator but bounces back to the lock position, hence the need to lift the button manually to open the door

if you don't want to pay top price for the actuators they are exactly the same as the ones fitted to montego's and maestro's, so try your local scrappy but remember to test them on a battery before you buy em ;)

Mine did the bust spingy thing on the rear door,(twice) the button goes up and down, but drops when you try to open it.
after it bust again, I just left it and used the Key to open it,not that that helps with the back door I know, but I'd check the pring first, cos its cheaper than the actuator;)

Had to replace one of my actuators a while ago. MM 4x4 do one for about 25 quid, the fitting is a straight swop, you just need to cut off the wiring connector and put some bullet crimps on. much cheaper than 100 quid for a LR one...
