and generally I suppose. I want to remove the EGR on our Disco 2 but the only potentially difficult bit is removing the two allen head screws from the exhaust manifold in case they shear.

Obviously cold engine and wd40 or easing oil, but which method is least likely to shear these screws, air impact wrench on low, or just plain constant pressure with socket set etc?????

Or is there no difference?

as you said but hit them first a good few times with hammer and suitable punch,it does free bolts, a slow pull is best

done mine couple of weeks ago, wd40 and allen key, with a wrench over the end for more pressure, no problem at all - 1995 model with 105k on the clock

the instructions did say to warm the engine up to help if necessary, but enough pressure and they both moved quite easy

When you start to remove them, soak 'em in Plus-gas first, then try to tighten them a tad. Then apply pressure steadily to undo them, and have someone tap the allen key as though you're hammering the stud in, while you turn it.
