And you should fit and tighten the positive lead first.if you've got it wrong the negative lead won't fit because the positive terminal is too big for the negative clamp.You fit the positive lead first in case the spanner touches the bodywork.

I thiiiiink I kinda got that one. After my divorce, I lived in a caravan and had 03-off new 1000CCA batteries and used to swap them with the P38's one every few days, rotating them. Did that for nearly 2 years without a glitch...'til last night.
