HI all.

Need new tires.... :(
So - I'm not after best of best. But not total budget.
I dont off-road.

What do pp recommend and where to get them for a good price?

Thanks

M

BF Goodrich AT’s. Not cheap but very good on-road and they last really well.
I would agree with this, they may be more expensive to buy but in terms of pence per mile work out fairly cheaply. I got 100k out of my last set and sold them with 4mm of tread for about £200 (set of 5). My current set of them (set of 6) has about 100k on them and are about half worn. I do regularly rotate them so there is even wear across the whole set.

+1 for BFG ATs. If you can swallow the initial cost, you can pretty much fit and forget, they just seem to last forever. Plus, they’re actually very good all terrains too!

All sorted friends, I bought 2019 tyres on wheels swapped for my wheels (aside from spare they were better.)
Now I can sell the wheels (or refurb) - cost to me £300 before I sell :)

I might be a bit out of touch with modern tyre technology but having had dozens of different cars over the years, it seems to me tyres that last a long time don't grip particularly well and tyres that grip really well don't last long.

I would agree for road tyres, but disagree for offroad tyres on a land rover. For off road tyres none of them grip very well when compared to road only ones . The very nature of an off road tyre makes it a compromise. Bring back crossply bar girps :D
