235/70/16 were an option as well, not sure if that was for earlier models or lesser equipped??
That's what I wanted to fit. Both cheaper and better for digging in...

I had 235 on mine when I got it with snow tyres. Never noticed much difference. Tread pattern makes most difference in my experience.

The General Grabber AT2's seem a popular choice, anybody know where I can get them in the size I require please (255/65/16)?

Nope the very early examples were fitted with either Stratos, DKL, or the 3 spoke "Vogue" copies which were fitted to the base models.
Ok carry on you know best. As far as i know early ones had steel spares. So steel wheels could be fitted.

No mistake. They were listed for the P38. 7 J WITH 235/70/16 tyres.
Hmm..

the 16' 3 spoke alloys were the only option for the base models.

According to the brochures and the Book I have here there was never a steel wheel fitment option,

They were listed on the parts manual as an option. Not a lot more i can say about it.

Steel 7J/16 road wheels were available for the early P38 from Land rover. Fitted with 235/70/16 tyres. Similar to the steel wheels available for the Disco 1 listed for soil use.. They are no longer listed on Microcat for the P38. They are still listed for the Disco 1 on Microcat, but are no longer supplied by Land rover, but are aftermarket units.
