Hello I am new to all this and would like some tyre advice please. Got a defender 90 that I use to tow the horse box. Currently got goodwich mud terrain tyres (came with the car) on it but have been advised to get all terrain ones. Very loud on the motorways too. I don't go off roading but needs to be used in a sand arena for harrowing and for chain harrowing in fields too. Mostly driven on the roads though. Any suggestions on brands etc?

Thanks Kay

It's worth doing a search prior to asking Q's like this, it saves you receiving a lot of abuse ;)

Any good brand all terrain should be fine, personally I like general grabber, bf goodrich and cooper, all of whom have a good reputation.

Kay - all terrains (ATs) will be quieter at speed, probably lower MPG and feel more car like around corners. ATs will easily handle sand arenas and even fairly deep mud so you will not have any issues.

If you wanted to try out a set, I have a spare set of nearly new Enduro Runway ATs that I took off my 90 recently. If you fancied considering a swap then I might consider swapping my ATs for your mud tyres.

Thanks - Richard

I have a set, they are the Black ones they fit in each corner and are round, the inner hole fits over the wheel. mine look very nice

:search:

All Terrains should be fine. Pirelli Scorpians, BFG ATs or the Coopers should be alright :)

Doing a search will come up with many threads on the subject. Takes ages to filer through them in my experience.

Yes its the personal touch for me to,It's like the difference between a prostitute and phone sex

Thanks for tha advice everyone. Think I am a bit far away for a swop! Will get some sourced for Dermott defender asap. Less noise and MPG sound excellent!!

just make sure they are the round all the way round.
This will help with low-noise, as for better MPG you should not run a Land Rover.

Any-way I will stop the ****-taking now.

So endurance Riding, hay. sounds fun, I used to do a lot of eventing 1 & 3 day, back in the day.Now I just do cross country with 4 wheeels not with 4 Legs.

Studied as a W.P became a BHSAI, got feed up with spoilt bratts, whose parents told them they are the best little riders in the world. You know the type ("Daddy I want that Pony") and Mummy I should have been given 1st prize. Oh **** your name doesnt end with an A does it!

Still manage the odd Hack but nothing to brave.

Few on here have Horses, have a chat with Goldilocks she has horses and is ok.

Stick around this place is spot on.

Anyway welcome.

Agree with baker street, a search is fine but takes forever to find what you want... Better off asking ... I've just fitted a new set of general grabber ATs to my 2006 disco 3. And I am very impressed. Took off the AT2s and did lots of research in relation to new rubber. Many negative threads in relation to the new grabbers.... They are good. That's all I can say but expect to pay£150 a corner fitted.

Lol! I've nearly got my BHSAI still to finish the portfolio but its a bit boring the paperwork side! Mainly SJ current horse and just got 4yr old quarter horse on loan to play with!! People keep telling me to got off roading but I have no time and don't want to break the defender as I can't afford to fix him!!

Thanks for the advice everyone
