Anybody got experiences with TVG 2.8 and clutches?
Ive just gone through my 7th clutch in 2.5 years and Im sick of it. I can now change a clutch in 8 hours but thats not the point!!!!
Clutch #1 - Existing britpart clutch 235mm land rover defender standard, slipping, removed, with minimal wear. Told they were like butter so binned. £155
Clutch #2 AP clutch 243mm land rover heavy duty 110 clutch, self-destructs after chasing what was thought to be slave cylinder problems, 4 wks to initial failure, 8 wks until dust. £100
Clutch #3 Aftermarket town and county 235mm clutch, installed and slipping straight away. Removed 6 months later to install clutch #4. £150
Clutch #4 AP clutch 245mm landrover heavy duty 130 clutch, one rivet broken, leaving the car unable to change gear and showing the same symptoms as previous AP clutch. 6 wks old £45 as I only bought clutch plate.
Clutch #5 Genuine land rover heavy duty 130 clutch, looking good with 4 rivet transfer as opposed to 3 rivet AP clutch. Installed and lasted 6 wks £160
Clutch #6 ORCA paddle clutch (diameter much reduces from 243mm), solid centre, Rivets fine, clutch slipped after 5 days, no drive after 10 days, one side of paddles the material had worn away, pressure plate eaten. £216
Clutch #7 Home made using solid centre from the ORCA paddle clutch and 130 clutch friction material. Lasted 9 months £0 but Im getting tired of having an unreliable car and bench pressing gear boxs.
Any suggestion for Clutch # 8?
Land rover is tuned but to be honest I dont think it kicks out much more that the engine specification of 280 lbf ft and 130 bhp. Muppet that sold the land rover to me said it had 350 lbf and 200 bhp.
Ive looked at auto box and to be honest a conversion kit is too costly and I want a manual.
Anyone else experienced this or have advice?
Vehicle is for sale as is if right offer made.
