Proud owner of a96 discovery rust bucket. Owned for 2 yrs it rattlesmoans and groans but keeps going. I found it easy ish to fix. But has started to overheat (notfully investigsted yet ) as at the same time when going up a hill or small gradiant on the motorway i suddenly have no acceleration, like there being a limiter fitted. So not sure if this is due to overheating with it having an auto box. Any ideas ?. Thanks

Was my first dreaded thought aswell, was hoping maybe another easier to fix issue, at this time of year. As i did check the oil to see if the water had leaked in. But that was spot on. MOT next week aswell, nurse it till then. I suppose i will have to go and warm my spanners up and hope it dont rain too much.
Thanks Kevstar

Wouldnt mind but just spent hard earned on new discs and calipers, n brake pipes. And we all know a cylinder head casket is going to snowball timing belt is due soon. May upgrade camshaft aswell. At it allready and its not quite exmas yet

Always seems to come at once doesn't it

For the age of the disco i keep thinking is it worth keep fixing it, ive welded it ive replced broken cv joints replced bent sterring bars with heavy duty ones, put newseals on swivel joints done front uj joints on prop. Its getting to be like the wife i need this etc etc. Not spent so much time and effort on a vehical since my first ford escort, keep thinking im getting to old for crawling about under motors. But ido like my disco.

I said in another thread earlier, it gets to the point where you ain't fixing as much but just maintaining. But easier said than done getting to that point. We do love em though don't we and it's a real labour of love.
If it's a real shed though maybe worth thinking about changing to something more solid with just the routine stuff to tinker on. Ain't so bad if you're only crawling underneath to change fluids and what not

I'll probably just do the head gasket MOT it, and let someone else continue my good work or more likely trash it in a field somewhere.

If it was a year or 2 down the line id probably take it off your hands and build a tray back or 100inch hybrid out of it
