How about removing the front wheels and sitting it on wood blocks, should give you more room. Not much done but few bits bought. Been working non stop. Should be a bit calmer this week so hopefully get some time on it. Also got a weekend without many commitments next weekend so should get the block out.
Bought a few ancillary bits and some factory optional extras - oem nudge bar with the LR lights.
Will start on the bay, inner wings etc when engine is out. Obviously got to get the dash out too.
Hoping the lifting tackle can clear the front. I have got the car fairly low but could go lower if I removed front springs. I think it should make it.

Sounds interesting, is it plug and play.Keep an eye out for a second hand plug in tuning chip
They really make the 300 edc auto fly, totally transforms the car
Yep, you undo the large plug near the inj pump plug in said widget and away she goes.Sounds interesting, is it plug and play.
Already have mateHow about removing the front wheels and sitting it on wood blocks, should give you more room.
Edc is going mate! Got a pump and set of injectors going off to diesel bobKeep an eye out for a second hand plug in tuning chip

Then I am afraid to say you are going to be severally disappointed power wise!Edc is going mate! Got a pump and set of injectors going off to diesel bob
I don’t see why? It won’t be like knocking 10bhp off an edc setup. It will get the manual injectors and the manual pump setup plus tweaking to the pump, de restricted exhaust and likely intercooler upgrade. Don’t know if I’m going hybrid turbo or standard yet. Will see. Then I am afraid to say you are going to be severally disappointed power wise!
Early 300 autos were manual inj pump 111 bhp, later 300 edc auto were 122bhp, and as flat as a fart, so imagine what knocking 10bhp off that is going to be like.
I would personally stick with the edc until/if it goes wrong.
I reckon it will be down on power, but please keep us informed as I am more than happy to be corrected.I don’t see why? It won’t be like knocking 10bhp off an edc setup. I didn’t want any electronic control on the truck. It will be used as my shoot/farm truck. The edc will go wrong at some point and when it does I don’t want to be digging back in to engine work. I’d rather do it all in one hit mate

My R reg 300 auto was chipped and shifted, the td5 manual was defo slower in every way, so that has to assume the edc was making a bit more than the td5s 136bhp, then there are the losses of the auto over the manual trans.
I totally agree with potential reliability statement, though I did 50k over 3/4 years in the 300 with no issues.
Got bloody binned mate. Had to get it out the storage sharpish and was moving counties, jobs etc.the 300 with a chip and larger intercooler produces around 160hp IIRc.
The TD5 you can get near double that lol, still the old 300 is a stout workhorse of a motor.
Do like the old D1s. Just out of interest @resto_d1 what happened to your other D1?
I see you’ve already started stripping the dash too. Found the cracks in the centre section around the clock and ash tray? They make a really annoying cracking sound especially when the air-con is on. I did keep meaning to fix them but never had that section back out. Was also planning on fitting one of the fourby replacement clocks with usb slots as that one is knackered.
Still finding it weird opening someone else’s thread to find a registration I recognise!

I have mate and will be doing as you said. Don’t know how to sort the cracked support bit yet but will cross that later
I’ve got one of those plastic welders that I bought on Amazon. Basically melts little staples into the plastic to hold it together. Seems to be working well on the bits I’ve done for the Range Rover. Hard dash classics have a lot of bits that like to crack! If it were me I’d give that a try.

Is that a standard cam or updated?Nasty wear on the camshaft lobe that powers vacuum pump. Thought “oh no that’ll cost”. 80 odd quid from turners! can’t complain about Land Rover parts costs.
