hi im new to this ive some mech knowlage ive been greenlaning when my disco lost power on full reves just blowing out white/blue smoke badly and struggled to rev up,ive cleaned out sludge filter fuel filter air filter,ive cleaned out all pipes to turbo that spins ok im baffled of what it could be if someone could please help me cheers paul:confused::confused::confused::confused:

Age of vehicle ?

Temp gauge reading ?

any 'mayo' in the expansion tank or on the dipstick ?

Any other symptoms, hunting - splutter - ?
 
Stop being w*****s, he said he was new to the forum, and as I happen to know that he had field stripped the disco in the middle of a very cold and very wet salisbury plaine then he deserves a bit of respect.....
Temp stays normal, no "man fat" in the water and the exhaust looks like a whitish blue...but after some tinkering with the fuel pump all returned to normal output for a short period(30 seconds). But after cleaning it(the fuel pump ) it still keeps conking out.
If the disco was up to its nuts in water(which it was)(did have snorkel) could the ****ty fuel cap have released water into fue....

Handbags at ten paces:) not sure about the smoke,but take the stop solenoid out and check for ****e in there. I had a simelar problem without the smoke and found it was that.
 
I'd pull a sample of fuel out and have a look at that first. U will see water in it straight away just make sure u test a decent amount. If that's what u suspect run a pipe from the intake on the lift pump into a jerry can of fresh diesel. Got to be worth a try.
 
Thanks for your advice the engine is a 200 tdi it's a 1990 temp gauge broken but not over heating no sludge in expansion tank or engine it will start but tick over rough revs up but full throttle it smokes badly ( blue/white) then engine dies but will start up again straight after that .
I joined this forum for advise not abuse as I'm new I just want to enjoy my disco as much as everyone else and I've just hit a wall and need advise to fix it cheers Paul
 
Soundz like the snorkel isnt sealed and youve had a drink. Check the oil level it might have gone up if you have.
