I'm in search of a tracker for both my D90 and series, especially having had a few stolen in my area quite recently. Anyone have any recommendations for a tracker and if it affects insurance?

Ebay tk103, you can get an app for it which use google maps satellite images.
The tk102 is nowheres near as good.
Dont tell insurance just in case it packs up or wont work as they may use it as an excuse to not pay/pay less etc etc

Smartwater were doing a special price on there kits for 15 quid one of payment

A tracker won't stop it getting stolen, if you are lucky, one might help the police to recover it if they can be bothered. You should start with some good visible security measure like a disk lock device that covers the steering wheel. Personally, I don't even bother locking mine and quite often I leave the keys in the ignition for days. If I was worried about it getting nicked, I would simply remove the rotor arm.

Skytag seems to get good reviews.
As mentioned above, visible security is also good. Having fitted one, l would recommend the Xeng pedal lock, mainly because it folds flat on the floor when not in use so you don't have to store a big lump of metal in the cab (such as a disc lock or pedal lock)
Although l put the disc lock on as well at night.

If you put "Tracker" in the Search box on the top right side of the page it should bring up the answers and comments I received to a similar question I posted a few months ago. I never did fit one because in a fit of greediness I sold my Defender and bought a Discovery.

I do have visible security devices such as disklock and the Xeng pedal lock. I've been told trackers put insurance prices down quite a bit. And it would give me a piece of mind if it does go missing as 5 defenders in my area have been taken this year.

i have an tk103 got the app on the phone, works well occasionally drops signal
dont mention to insurance if it gets robbed just go get it back with the help of the police, or a crowbar

We've got defender defender trackers on all ours. .cheaper than skytag, easy to fit and so far really reliable and for a technophobe like me it's easy to use
