Hi all,

Had a go at changing the track rod ends on the wife's Freelander today. Got the Drivers side done with out to much trouble. Then onto the passenger side. Got the old one of then had a nightmare trying to fit the new one

After half an hour of trying, i compared old and new parts, it seems that the new part has the wrong direction thread. Have i been given the wrong part for the model/year or is it a factory fault?

The Freelander is a R reg 2Ltr Diesel. And help would be appreciated :)

Oh its definitely a factory fault that mate, if i was you i would have it to the dealers Monday morning and demand to see the manager immediately, Land Rover built yours all wrong for sure, dont listen to them telling you otherwise, they will try to fob you off with tales of it being normal.....DO NOT BELIEVE THEM, take this to the top and demand Land Rover rebuild your Gaylander correctly.

It is usual to post in the introduce section before asking questions.

The track rods are right and left threaded and so are the track rods.
You will have, probably, been given two track rods with the same thread.

Now heres hoping you haven't forced the issue and trashed the thread on the track rod end or it's gonna cost a little bit more to fix.
Hope this helped.

Sorry thought I stated that I was after help there, not **** taking
calm down mate...its usual for the tratter and disco boys to come on here and belittle us lowly souls, don't rise to it or they'll flame you to death!!!!

track rod ends are handed so looks like you've been given two right hand ones :( once you've sorted it get it tracked otherwise you'll be eating front tyres,,,

Thanks Freelaner,

Old one went back on okay.

I take it both left and right threads are available?

How do you know which you need with out removing the part first?

cos as i said earlier they are HANDED...you must've been given two right hand ones by mistake. take it back and tell them you want a LEFT hand one.....

What he said!

Your parts supplier messed up and gave you two the same when they should have been one of each

or maybe you do have the right track rod end but were trying to screw it in the wrong way ?

compare the part numbers on the packaging to confirm
