Top hose split 5 months ago leaving me stranded on the M4.
Recovery to the rescue.

Hose is approx 40mm from top of radiator to engine with approx 30mm hose down to thermostat in one piece.

Replacement was a plastic T-piece with 3 individual hoses.

This lasted 5 months.

Will be phoning Island 4x4 first thing Monday morning.

If any of you have this arrangement, try & get a spare T-Piece if available because if they crack like mine, repair is almost impossible.
A spare T-Piece is a 10 minute fix.

Ah right - I guess the secret is not to over tighten the metal hose clips if its a plastic 't' piece. Hope you didn't cook the engine and it's just a straightforward replacement piece.

@kevwill

Too true but the hoses come pre-fitted & tightened on purchase.

Hopefully, engine not fried.

Wow -that's not good. I'm sure Island 4x4 will be ok with you - been a good company imo. Was this a Britpart piece, if so maybe they sell an oem quality part.

.

I had a problem with some rear shocks on a D2 that were purchased from island4x4 approx 8 months previously. Bought lots from them before (should be a trade customer :D)

Rang up to be told to send the item back to them, (at my expense) then they will send it onto to (s)Britpart who will get them 'tested' and to decide whether there's anything wrong and whether to refund or not.

Needless to say I couldn't be bothered with the AG and avoid (s)hit part now.

Island 4x4 offered full refund or replacement on return of the offending part. Thanks for that Island 4x4.

In the meantime I have to fit a new part, Island uses Britpart.

I can purchase a Bearmach one but the pictures look the same.

Which would you buy?

As the Britpart one failed I'd def by Bearmach.

Bearmach replacement ordered, Britpart one will be on its way back to Island 4x4 for a refund. (Thanks Island 4x4)

Will report back on the Bearmach part.

Bearmach Part arrived, only obvious difference is that hoses are fitted with clamped hose clips as opposed to screw tightened clips with the Britpart one.

Perhaps the Britpart was overtightened on assembly prior to sale but cannot be sure obviously.

Hopefully no damage has been done due to overheating........we shall find out soon.
