stick your fuel lines into a jerry can.. that's it.
you might need to extend the lines with some hose or just reroute them into the back via a hole and strap your jerry can down.
keep an eye on fuel level
you don't, you pull the fuel lines off the tank and stick em in the back.
the tank is just a container, no leccy pump or anything. so you just need to temp hook the lines up to another container.

The lines don't pull off. They're bolted on with barbed connections. I had to cut the fuel return pipe off just to get the sender out and I can't even get into the one at the top with the tank still in place.
I'm bolting it back in and just connecting it back up. I don't have much choice. Seems solid enough so ill just have to hope that it doesn't leak
from the sender? run it on 1/4 tank or less to minimise fuel loss and keep a full jerry with you.
but as a temp measure, you can still do the jerry can. pick up some fuel hose tomorrow and connect it to the engine side, bring it in via the gearsticks and into the can on the passengers floor.
diesel isn't too bad, but don't do it with petrol... it's a lot more explosive
or get some silkaflex/pu and go to town on it. it might last for a little while.

It's leaking from the bottom of the tank. I only put on about 3 litres which is now emptying itself into the street as I left it abandoned.
Ive used some fuel line I had to connect the return pipe back up which doesn't leak as I couldn't push it back onto the barbs once I'd cut it. I'm guessing it's heated and sealed onto the barbs from factory. I've got other fuel line upstairs but it's just that braided crap that's used for the leak off pipes. I don't have enough I don't think plus it would mean cutting the pipes again and the last thing I can afford is fuel pick up and return pipes as well, on top of whatever else ill have to buy.
All I need to do is get the bloody tank off and it'll be easy enough to bolt in the new tank. Job done. If only I could get an angle grinder in at those bolts or something.

you are probably still fed up, but i think someone a little more experienced and with fresh eyes would get that off with not much trouble.

. We need more jocks on here. I will get there, I just need to take two buses and leave at twenty to 7 though. It's only bloody 7 miles away anaw, and takes 15 minutes to drive. Public transport is a joke.
I'll just have to wait until I can get the tank replaced rather than bodging the pipes.
I did. I knew this one had a bit of rust at the rear end when I bought it but it was too much of a good deal to pass up. It was only when I started bettering those nuts yesterday that the crossmember literally started disintegrating :/. So after this fuel tank is done I'll be saving up the cash for a pressbrake special.
