I didn't even know they made a TR8. You would think they'd have cut their losses at the 7.Better still if it’s a tr8
hmmmmm.....I thought they called the addition of a rover v8 a tr8?
Hi Meego,Looks good. Enjoy
Is that a TR7 ?
Excellent investment and a very wise choice. Fast enjoyable and great value for money open top motoring and it's British too. Don't forget to join the TR Register, they love TR7shmmmmm.....
I know we don't need another car dear, but it was cheap and it's an investment

The back ends a bit whacky. Has presence though (bit like a Defender maybe)I didn't even know they made a TR8. You would think they'd have cut their losses at the 7.
I would still stop and look at one in the street though.
Ohhhh.....I haven't bought oneExcellent investment and a very wise choice. Fast enjoyable and great value for money open top motoring and it's British too. Don't forget to join the TR Register, they love TR7s
Go on buy it. S+S are an excellent company and it seems to have all the bits, it'll be fast, reasonably reliable, comfortable, will drive well and her in doors will like the heater and cosseted comfort when the hoods up. Just think of the posing points too and for under 5 grand tooOhhhh.....I haven't bought one
I was just thinking of what to say to her if I had.
But you've got me thinking now.........Oh bugger
I looked at them and the bottom panel was placed in upside down.....cheap / weak metal, poorly made etc they have no consistency to manufacture or closer to the point procurement,
seems they buy cheap and brand as own etc same as neilson / blue spot / silverline etc
Buy a LHD US rag top from California. There are loads over there, they'll be rust free and as a bonus it'll have fuel injection on the 4 cylinder engine too. The best is the Spyder, a limited edition soft top in black with pewter interior. Rare and an appreciating classic tooHad a TR7 for years loved it not fast not best looking car but only ever had 2 cars that always made me fill good when I drove them, the discovery td5 and the TR 7 I have looked for a left hand drive French reg one if it came from around here would not have too much rust but have never seen one here so chances of finding one for sale are not high
would love one have see them on ebay, do not know how easy it would be to get registered in France, If I have a bit more time next year might have buy one did not think that much of standard engine and if it is just a toy could run a V8 but do not know if TR 8 was sold in Europe, if not might make it harder to register, got me dreaming nowBuy a LHD US rag top from California. what was behind was not a problem, but looking back to my time with the TR7 is great but would I enjoy it as much now?TR8 was better, but the rear visibility was still shite tho ....
The original TR8 was more or less only sold in the USA in soft top guise, as only 63 hard top and 18 convertibles out of the total of 2509 TR8s were ever released into the UK. Regarding your comments on the Dolomite 4 cylinder engine, then here are many TR7V8 conversions around which are somewhat cheaper than a real TR8. Make sure they have both suspension, brake, cooling and back axle ratio upgrades as well. The Rover 3.5l engine, the same as that fitted to many Land Rovers is an excellent engine provided the oil is changed regularly.would love one have see them on ebay, do not know how easy it would be to get registered in France, If I have a bit more time next year might have buy one did not think that much of standard engine and if it is just a toy could run a V8 but do not know if TR 8 was sold in Europe, if not might make it harder to register, got me dreaming now
I do not understand fully the system in France but when I looked into fitting an extra 2 seats in the back of my discovery 2 was told that as there where never 7 seaters sold with out air suspension if I wanted to change the papers of the car to 7 seater I would need to fit the air suspension so it was the same as a" type" sold by landrover and meet all CE standard. The original TR8 was more or less only sold in the USA in soft top guise, as only 63 hard top and 18 convertibles out of the total of 2509 TR8s were ever released into the UK. Mmmmm interesting. The TR8 was never sold in Europe. A few in the UK, but none in mainland Europe and certainly not France. Therefore an imported LHD TR8 from the US may well be deemed the correct "type" for France (certainly it is not modified) and as such be relatively straight forward to license in that country.I do not understand fully the system in France but when I looked into fitting an extra 2 seats in the back of my discovery 2 was told that as there where never 7 seaters sold with out air suspension if I wanted to change the papers of the car to 7 seater I would need to fit the air suspension so it was the same as a" type" sold by landrover and meet all CE standard.
So would think if the TR 8 where sold in Europe even in small number's there will be a type number so as long as it is the same spec as that it would not be a problem
I have looked on "LE PARKING" site and there are some TR7 for sale in France and the rest of Europe
As long as it was sold somewhere in Europe (UK counts ) should be OK but it is a good idea to talk with TR register first as could save a lot of problems Later.Mmmmm interesting. The 7 seat LRDS2 is a different beast. 7seats + air suspension is as it came from the Solihull (?) factory. 7 seats + coil would be deemed a "modified" LRDS2 and as such be difficult to licence in France I expect as you point out.
Contact the French section of the TR Register and ask the question re imported US TR8s into France
