I think you made the right decision to walk away from the first one you described. It sounds a bit abused. Don't be fooled by low mileage when it could have been 49k by a farmer on unmade roads with a couple of bales of hay in the back. Always worth seeing who the previous owner was and trying to find out if there was "commercial use".
Before I bought my Freelander I viewed a Pajero with just 39k on the clock. Seats and interior were ripped to pieces. There were two spent shotgun cartridges under the back seat and loose feathers blowing around inside. Obviously a gamekeeper or wild fowler and the dogs had destroyed the interior and it had spent most of its life off road. No good as a family vehicle. Cheers SW.

fbh - fuel burning heater, warms the car and engine to super toasty in a matter of minutes.

glad you've found one, and not got lumbered with the shed. Never buy a car which hasn't been cared for. If the owner can't even be arsed to clean / polish it, how often will it see the inside of a mechanics workshop ? Only when it goes wrong I'll bet.
