hi all i been searching around for a tinting window kit for mr disco 1 1995 but cant seem to find any kits for it i have only found kits 1998 and above, if anyone knows were i can get one from would be great as i tryed cutting templates out and doing it and its a right b**tid to do personally

if you take your time and watch some 'how to' video's on youtube you don't need a kit.
Mirror tinted mine first time for £6 (tint on ebay)

Nooooooo tommy, you doing it wrong, the disco is easy to do as all the windows are flat, apart from the alpine windows none have any shape to them

Buy this and come see me
CAR WINDOW TINT FILM KIT 5% LIMO BLACK 76CM X 6M | eBay

The alpine windows are an absolute 8itch! They obviously curve to match the roof but typical LR quality means they are slightly curved at the ends too!

BTW, the cheapo film on eblag is shi7e. My tints have faded so much there's little difference from standard.

That stuff I put a link on is what I have, been on a few months and still good
How long ago did you do yours?

I haven't done my alpines because of that reason, I was thinking of painting them lol

I guess it was about three years ago.

Got the aplines done proffessionally after numerous failed attempts. I did consider paint but didn't want to lose the light.

is that what u have done to urs toby? as if u done them yourself it loks like a pro has done it, so i shall defo get u to do mine if u have done it, with a payment of a packet of strawberry laces :)

Yes I did mine myself mate. Not the easiest think on your own. 2 pairs of hands makes it easier

Wouldn't a tin of window tinting spray do the job on the alpines?
Plenty on eBay. :)

Edit: Obligitary eBay linky.

Oooooo not seen that before! Cheers mark!

even if you had to do it once a year you could keep doing it for 20 years n it'd still be cheaper than going to a pro for the whole car :p

so on that note... i just ordered meself some (this is gonna go horribly wrong I just know it!)

That's a great idea but to do it right you need to tuck the film below the level of the lower edge which means taking the frame out.

Was quoted £150 to do all windows from 'B' pillar on except the alpines. Guy said that trying to get the seals back on were a bugger.

I took my alpines off to do mine, as it happens the ebay film wouldnt stick so binned it,It was more likely my toffee hammer fingers and touch of a baby elephant

but putting alpines back wasnt that bad with plenty of washing up liquid and a teaspoon handle, worked a treat.

the alpines can be a pain but doing all the flat window is a piece of ****, use a squirty bottle with some water and washing up liquid and you can move the film about without it sticking, then you can reposition it as many times as you need to before using a squeegee to push out the liquid and air.
my tint i bought cheap on ebay, mirror effect and 2 years later and it's still spot on.

Just take your time and dont rush, get a mate to help on the bigger rear window and you'll get it done for less than a tenner.

make sure you have :- squirty bottle with soapy water,
some tape to separate the films
a sharp craft knife/scalpel
scissors
and some patience :)

Oh and make sure you cut the material so when you peel off the backing it's sticky side to the window :)
