Bit of tinkering tonight.

Finished the belts and pulleys finally. Some modifications but all nice and tight.

Had to use the gas to bend a adjuster around the dizzy and add another to reach the alternator

Still waiting for the cross member so instead of the exhaust I dry fit the radiator. Wings were about 5mm out so I adjusted the gap and fits now

Grabbed some time to tinker this afternoon.

Adapted a support brace to fit another bracket for the alternator but forgot to take any pictures

While Killajoules was fitting that I made the bracket for the fuel tank. This I did take pictures of

Unfortunately I ran out of time so had to leave it there but hope to weld it in this week.

Tonight I tacked the new tank mount on, didn't manage to get pics of this, phone was playing up.

After that was tacked I removed the tank and waxed the support tray

That was after I managed to get the wax out of the tin. Bit cold for this job.

Then I unwrapped the tank shield that and waxed the inside of that

Happily the cross member turned up today

d85b62201740c7f1f09df6f874975879.jpg

I cleaned off the ends and painted with red oxide ready for waxing before fitting.

The Rock sliders arrived with the tank guard. Need a hand to figure out how to fit them though. Especially as sills are box. Didn't want to drill them but looks like I might have to.

Maybe more tomorrow. Will see how cold it is.

Fuel tank bracket welded and ready for the tank to go on.

I painted it last night as well but then spent the rest of the night under Leebastard's 90 to get it ready for the trial on Sunday, Lee helped then we retired to the pub:)

Anyone breaking a P38 4.6? I need the float from the fuel pump

Tinkering time today

I managed to get the fuel tank in tonight. After covering every part that will be behind the tank in Anchor Wax I fitted the tank, hopefully for the final time.

Glad the floor isn't down

It Errrr, Oh Ye I bolted it up, after another generous coat of wax.

Since tapatalk has upgraded itself to some stupid form of unuseability I can't start a new thread

I currently have nice new fuel lines fitted which are 1/4" pipe which is about 6.3mm but the pipes that come off seam to be 5/16" (I think) which is about 8 mm. As the efi is ran on pressure more than volume do I need to change the fuel lines to 8mm? Advice welcome as I will be plumbing the fuel pipes in on Sunday.

Hi Stu,

I would say I don't really know but the thing here would be although the pressure regulator would deal with the pressure O.K. surely the flow rates will be different which might cause problems. For what it's worth I would stick to the original size.

Cheers Kev. That was my thoughts. Will leave the return as is but will fit a 8mm for the flow see how it goes.

Feel like progress has been made today

Started by fitting the fuel filter and bracket.

Then I altered a float from the SE tank to fit the pump

Then tiger sealed it on so it doesn't fill with petrol

Went to fit it and found that when compressed the pump is 10mm to tall for the tank  Oh well. At least it will ready for the ccv trialer. So on to tinternet and find one that will fit, brand new and will be delivered before Christmas. £38 later and I should get it on Tuesday:)

After the sausages had cooked on the barbecue the fuel lines went in. Now 5/16 bore instead of 1/4

Couple more cable ties and they will be grand. Surprisingly 6m of hose goes from the tank to the engine for the return and from the engine to the filter for the feed. Need another 2m to get from the pump to the filter.

Tea brake time watching the sun go down

After that it was decided that the cross member will be changed so the exhaust can be fitted.

A slight straightening of the bonnet release support that got bent in storage

Whilst I had been fiddling Killajoules had been finishing off a few bits, between helping me and making tea that is. He cleaned up the front wing brackets so they got painted before we left

Maybe more tomorrow. We shall see.

Fuel pump has been delivered, found a breaker with the plugs for the pumps, drop plate being delivered tomorrow. I think I will be busy this Christmas

I'm seeing more and more parts from Bearmach turn up for the Rangy. Is this another Britpart? Are they better? Or are they the same products in different boxes? Does anyone know the answer to this?
