Apologies because I am a Land Rover virgin and a newbie to this site. Need some advice from you experts, I currently own a peugeot 407 (yeah I know, sorry)that is getting more and more faults because of all the technology, very serious about selling and buying a freelander td4 or older model (xdi ?), want it for camping and maybe caravaning, hoping it will be a lot less hasle because not as technologically confusing and overwhelming. Not much you can do on modern cars but hoping freelander will be easier to work on, don't mind getting hands mucky. Can you guys recommend a freelander, if so what model and what are common faults, are they cheap to fix and easy to mend, I would really appreciate any thoughts and comments.

stick with the pug ;):D

I wouldn't recommend a freelander unless you enjoy tooling around more than a few times a month 'specially in the first few months after buying.

I do like mine, but its taken a while to get it sorted.

Our 2002 TD4 has been the most reliable car we have ever had and when our 1998 L-series has had problems they have always been fixed easily.

Cheers

got to be honest even with some minor problems our td4 has had, our 2002 freelander is by far the best car I have had. Especially when it snowed early on in the year. :D

I have a love hate relationship with my hippo. Wouldn't buy another though. You may wanna check out the Nissan X-Trail too.

I see the disco has been recommended. It's a very capable vehicle but also has its fair share of problems. If you don't need to tow heavy things or do anything extreme off road, then a Disco probs isn't the most suitable vehicle for you.
