The injector seats on a copper washer, I may just be that needs replacing but as said it's possible you have stripped threads.

It'll need to come out anyway to change the washer, once out the issue should be apparent

In all fairness mate, loose injector really means diesel will be spitting out and not oil, its not hard to look at the other injectors and spot why this one is sitting higher, if you cant get this far perhaps you should let a garage fix this?
Its easy to do but as you say if you are no good at this kind of stuff don't try, you could damage stuff.
The good news is your injector is no longer clamped down and its an easy fix and your engine is not knackered, but don't be running it for too long like this.

If you want to have a crack at fixing this say so and I'm sure one of us will post a step by step for you to follow.

Even if planning to take it to a garage, understanding the problem and what needs doing will help prevent you being taken for a ride :)

Thanks Everyone, Tried o get photos but memory card is not working for some reason. Really need some daylight to have a good look, probably sunday now.
Just hoping it needs clamping down with new washer, will try and sort photos out.

Photos sorry about the quality it was getting to dark. the oil you can see is just what's came from the breather when I moved out the way to take photos.
Need to completely remove the Breather to see exactly what's what but by the feel of it there is no clamp at all, first photo you can see how much higher he injector is to he others.

Looks like the little stud that the clamp is bolted to has either snapped our has been wound out....

(and you are looking at inj no. 3 btw :D)

i can see why you need a clamp it and its securing stud are missing, a new washer as well and it might be an easy fix

As James says....

Here is a photo from when I did a top end rebuild on my 200Tdi....

Thanks Again. Got the part numbers for clamp and washer, is there part number for securing stud James?

err1019 , has yours unscrewed or sheared off and so needs removing
Spot on James, Gonna have to have another look tomorrow, as I'm just feeling in the dark for now, the photos are not that good but it looks like it has been unscrewed hopefully.
Any idea of how this would happen?? as I have not touched the injectors at all since I've had the truck.

Vibration.....

If the nut was a tad loose, vibration can unscrew the stud if it wasn't locked in place....one of mine was loose when I did the rebuild.

(Oh and I was the one who noticd the stud was missing or sheared :D:D:D:D:D.....but JM is a bit of a genius too I case :D)

Hope its just unscrewed itself or ill be having another thread started on how to remove it. your right James is a genius glad he is on this forum.

Also have a good look around the engine bay, it may be that the clamp / stud has just dropped and got stuck somewhere rather than falling out the bottom of the engine bay. Also if it did unscrew (rather than shear) it might be worth a quick check of the other clamp nuts.

Thanks never thought of that, gonna be Sunday before I can get a start, there is a local LR Parts dealer near me they should have the parts in.
Busters Guide will come in handy too.

First one should be ERR1509, was that a typo? second one is for a 300TDI which uses different injectors so will probably differ (otherwise they would use the same number)

Yes was ERR was going to order from Paddocks but seems they only have the 200 tdi in sock, my local parts place cant get them till Tuesday so will get everything stripped down tomorrow ready for when I do get the parts
Been looking at Busters guide, very helpful seems straightforward , just hope I don't damage the injector when getting it out. does anyone know the torque settings for the clamps?? also need part numbers for bolt that holds clamp down?, forgot about that.

Looks like the injector is ready to be lifted out so that shouldn't be a hassle. It isn't a bolt that holds the clamp it is a stud and nut ERR1019 is the stud FN108041L is the nut. Don't forget to fit a new injector seal too.

OK Cant get parts till Tuesday but took it all apart today, injector came out easy, but could not see a washer on the end so presume its still in there. whats the best way of getting It out?? will try and put pics up in a bit,
