You'll love this!
got a vibration when driving, not then dethrotling, coming from prop shaft and steering (whole car shakes a bit). when stationary the engine sounds (?) OK, but I think it's rev related. the fault has been growing the past two weeks and getting worse, so suspect big ends! Any suggestions???

Thanks Beast of Bodmin, love you too!!! :D:D:D It might come to that yet....

Mad Hat Man, not check these yet, hope to put it on some wheel ramps this weekend and see. thanks for the suggestion, any other areas?

yu dont need ramps - jusr crawl underneath it and try rotating the propshaft - yu will feel if there is any play. chock the wheels, coz its best to do it without the handbrake on. better still use a screwdriver to try and rotate the joints.

check the front drive flange out of the transfer box - as the bearing does fail, easily done whilst checking for any "lift" in the prop shaft uj's. It can also be changed in situ.

Doesn't sound like big ends! Big end bearings gone makes a helluva racket and generally the engine stops and yer oil pressure drops....that's what happened on my VN750 anyway!

Big end failure wont make car vibrate just a knocking noise, as has already been said ide check your prop shaft u/j's for slack/rotational movement although a seized u/j will cause vibration but wont normaly have any slack init, you will have to remove the prop shaft to check it.

Didn't have time to look under last night, seeing tame mechanic at the weekend, will go armed with your comments!!!
Many thanks, P.

OK, so it's the UJ's on the prop shaft thats naf, but the exhaust banging against the chassis didn't help!
Many thanks to all that commented, much appreciated.
Regards, Peter.
