Oh bloody hell I have each and every item mentioned above in my garage. I must be a sad, sad sod.

Jam jar full of raw liver.
Bottle of scotch.
Another bottle of scotch.
A breakdown membership card.

Led head torch and a magnetic torch are handy.
Circlip pliers, external will do for now.
1/2" multi point spanner and socket for caliper bolts etc. You'll be in a world of ball ache without the last two items especially.

A padded corner in the garage where you can go and cry on a bad day. I'm having one of those today. I seem to repair one thing only to bugger up two more things. Its not playing ball with me today.
I feel your pain mike
spent this morning putting a rebuilt transfer box in and now the gear box is chattering its nuts off

A bigger swearbox, fill it up quick, It'll pay for some bits.. cutting a slot in the top of an old wheelie bin works well.

OH YES!
Gatso was with me at the time and i bet he will tell you I went green, felt sick and really p***** off !
I know that feeling. When everything was back from the paint shop and I was fixing bits to the bulkhead and realised they had sold me the wrong one. I did feel physically sick. :(
More money, time and effort for you there, but at the end of the day at least you'll know you have a sound gearbox when you've finished. :) (I'm trying to look on the positive side for you)

Cheers for that, i dont feel to bad today

Don't think anyone's mentioned this but you'll need a bloody good vice... then again, we all have one of those or you wouldn't have asked the question in the first place! ;)

Funny you should say that , just install a huged blacksmiths vice on my workbench which I had knocking around in the garden for ages, only been used twice in about twenty years and its been in the past few weeks , each time for a Landrover job :)

Excellent. Earlier this year I was lucky enough to have some space to build a bench and put in my old vices. It's great being able to hold stuff and bash it around without worrying you're going to bend anything or crack a cheap Chinese casting.

A load of air tools and a compressor, long pieces of timber for resting stuff on and jiggling stuff in, prey bar's and a punch bag called britpart :)

Well, I have had a peaceful summer running my Mercedes B class. Never had to get my hands dirty once. Nice cool air conditioning.
From the 1st September I will get me Defender insured and back on the road. Oh how I have missed driving it. No a/c the loud roar of the engine etc. Driving the Merc through the village no one gives a dam. When I drive the Defender heads turn. and everyone gives way.
