I'm working on a project in downtown Aspen and if you've ever had the chance to ski there, you know how crazy the place can be during the season. The project is packed with several different trades right now and parking near the job site is dear. The other day I had to park the Landy several blocks away from the job. I was ****ing an moaning about hauling my tools and such that distance.
When I went back to have lunch in car I was munching my rations when I noticed a gentleman walking at an angle across the street. He walked up to me and asked, "What year is your Range Rover?" I told him that was a '93 and he said that he had just driven a '90 from Aspen to Texas for a client (He is a property manager for a very la di da subdivision). We pleasantly chatted a bit about the cars and then he asked if I would be interested in a clam shell car top carrier that he had left in the garage of the Rangie owner. It wasn't being used and hadn't been for years. I said "Sure " and we went to the house to have look.
It turns out was a Range Rover branded carrier. Huge thing, as long as the top of my LSE and a bit over 3 ft wide in good nick. I asked how much he wanted for it and he said "Take it if you want it. Enjoy."
Free is a very good price. It turns out it was made to fit the roof rack on my car perfectly!
It wasn't such a bad parking place after all.
