Just been shipped to Malta, everything done through internet, seen it advertised asked my brother to go view it and transfered him the cash.
Had a bit of a nightmare with the customs side of it down here, but thats another story. I have it, yes, yes, yes.
First things, I am very pleasantly surprised by the handling, thought it would roll, but not much of that. Very comfortable to drive and plenty of vision, loads of gadgets and storage holes. The steering lock is not as good as I would have liked, it makes it quite hard to get into my garage, unlike my previous Grand Cherokee.
Bad point, sounds like the nearside rear bearing has gone, getting a droning noise while driving, pulled on the wheel and there is a bit of play so assuming it is the bearing. How hard is it to replace please?
Gave her a good wash and wax when I got her home on Friday, saturday was spent fitting the new sound system and complete valet of the inside, she looks like brand new now. Will post some pics later, my first Landie and I am very impressed. Also, had the thermostat mod done in UK before being shipped down here so I hope everything goes ok, will keep ya posted. No doubt I will be asking advice off all you peeps in the future. Bye for now

What are your tyres like? Had a rumbling on mine, thought a wheel bearing was on its way out. Turned out to be the tyre. Swapped tyres around and the rumbling moved. When i replaced tyres, hey presto, no rumbling. Good luck with the motor, n welcome to landyzone.

Tyres are in very good condition, I pulled on the top of the wheel and there is a bit of play there, the other side is perfect no movement what so ever. First thought was a wheel bearing but will be getting it checked out this weekend. Loving the car, not too bad on petrol neither. Have found one more thing which seems unusual to me from other cars I have had, the ABS light stays on until I release the handbrake then it goes out after 3 or 4 seconds. Is this normal?

yes the abs light staying on is normal, (well it does on mine so hope so) think it goes out soon as you hit 5mph.

Hardback,
Nice slide show...
I see you have a 'V' plated - that'll be a 1999 model year, yes?? - please, please, please tell me it's a DIESEL and not a petrol....
All I can say, if it's a PETROL I wish you the very best of luck and motoring...however, brief it turns out to be........
James.

. . . . . . especially if thrashing it around St Pauls Bay in the middle of summer :)

It's a 2000 model and yes it's a petrol. The registration tax is too much for a deisel, hence me buying the petrol version. One other thing about the Freelander, mine has only one airbag for the driver obviously. I would have thought being a 2000 model it would have had two, or does this depend on which model because it was listed as exi.
Had the Remote thermostat mod done so hopefully it will help a bit in the mediteranean heat, pardon the speeeling.

Oh deary me, it's a 2000model...!!
Only one airbag should be the least of your worries..
I only hope you've got a large, fat, healthy wallet - sadly, me thinks you're going to need it.
The going rate for your PETROL model Freelander in the UK is about £500, however most people can't give them away. My local L/R garage won't touch them with a very, very long barge pole!!
Tell me you found it broken down, left abandoned somewhere or some 'wise' person gave it to you
My advice - GET RID A.S.A.P. - especially as it appears to be working - for now, that is - you're bound to find some gullable mug out there that'll buy it...:D
Good luck......

No thanks, gunna take mi chances and keep it. Missus likes it too.
Not all petrols are bad, there are some that have lasted a while. Will keep ya posted
