After what seems an age i am now able to buy my first land rover, a disco 2
Having not much luck in finding a good one in scotland:( ive been looking south of the border and i'm hoping to go and see a few at the weekend.
Anyone heard of and recommend, PVH Land Rovers in Stokesley N. Yorkshire they have 2 i would like to view. Also RJ Land Rovers in Sawtry Huntingdon who have 3 i would like to view.
Any feedback would be most appreciated:)

Hi, I`m not sure of your first choice but RJ landrovers are near me. I have a friend who bought his disco 2 from there & I can say they look after you. His turbo went & they fitted a replacement free of charge no quibbles. They do seem a bit pricey, but from what I`ve seen when I went there they are nice clean motors that are well maintained.

Hope this helps, Dan.

Just a general point really. If you live in Scotland and buy in southern England, why would you buy from a dealer whose after-sales package will have little or no value to you?

After all, you're not going to take it back if there is something wrong are you?

I would suggest looking at used Discos in the NE & NW of England with private sellers - negotiate a good price but always leave some cash for the inevitable 'fettling'.

most warrenty deals are not limited to the supplying dealer

Not being funny but a quick look on Autotrader and there are loads of good looking Disco 2's in Scotland like this one

Land Rover Discovery 2.5 TD5 LANDMARK 7 SEAT 5DR 2004

and this one

Land Rover Discovery 2.5 TD5 ES 7 SEAT 5DR AUTO 2004

I don't see the point in driving all the way down south to look at a car then have to drive all the way back down to pick it up when there are loads local in the same condition.

I had a look at one of those and they lied to me about the service history, it also had a oil leak from the rocker cover and a few other issues. A few others i've looked at in scotland have had to many issues and there not giving me the trade-in price i want. One of the dealers down south is giving me a great part exchange, full mot, waxoled chassis new tyres and 6 month warranty that's not just bound to them.

I don't, but every other dealer out there selling one could be hiding something too, got to buy one somewhere, is it not a bit safer buying from a LR specialist?

i thought i found a good one last august from a good garage, they got it in as a trade car! low miles, 2 owners, loads of history, the garage didn't know a thing about it, i got it i had it a few days then i was on here trying to find out what was wrong with it, look on my threads, James martin helped me pin point the problem, garage said nothing wrong with it after i took it back, i got full refund, lucky as i sort of knew more about it than them other wise maybe no refund, then a smart looking disco, immaculate to look at, but a mechanical nightmare,
good luck

just proves low miles is not always better in fact most with around 80tho will be needing work done in the short term unlike a 120000with good history should have had most of its problems sorted

Hi there.

I am 6 miles from R.J.Landrovers, and could always look over a car for you if you wanted.

By pure coincidence, I know of a 2002 Facelift TD5 for sale locally. It is dark blue and has done 75,000 miles. Its up for around £4500.00. Its in good nick.

Cheers.

Make sure you don't buy a D2 that's had excessive wax oyl sprayed on to hide chassis sins, seems a common one lately, rot is the biggest issue on a D2
