Not so long back when I rode a motorbike, the bikers always nodded to each other (usually it was a sideways nod) and years before that I had a Transit CI motorhome and whenever I saw another one I'd always put my hand up to say hello. Almost without fail everyone nodded or waved back.

Now I'm driving my disco about I wondered if a similar thing applied.

I've tried it a couple of times, just raise my hand as a hello gesture only to met with looks of complete bewilderment!

You'll always get acknowledgement from another off road equiped, the snorkel's a dead giveaway from a distance. I get waves all the time in my Defender.

i get about a 30/35% wave back (deependers) , dont wave to disco's unless they is tricked up for off-roading
the most stuck up are the transit engine deepender owners get about a 10% return on them tossers!

when i had my disco a cannot remember hardly anyone giving the 'nod',

since i had the 110 it happens daily, once over 6 lanes of motorway :D.

I get the nod on my disco, specially when its covered in mud.

on the bikes...nod all the time.

I always stop to see if can help when i see a landy at the side of the road, stopped about 2 weeks ago in Chatham to see if i could help but the guy was sorted he was just changing a wheel, doesnt hurt to stop and ask. I very often find landy drivers will give way to let me out of junctions and i find myself doing the same.

Yeah, I get waves back from Defenders and Discos, but they are mostly off-road equipped .. ;)

I don't wave at 'normal' Disco's, D3's, Freelanders or Rangies unless they're classics or equipped, they simply drive vehicles ... ;)

I'll nod back if someone waves to me but I don't really do the "look, I'm the same as you, let's be friends" thing. I do stop to see if I can help if I see a landy broke down though.

Amazingly, white van drivers do the same (and I do the same to them). I often get the impression that commercial drivers generally see my Disco as part of their "club".
A few years ago in Italy another Disco driver got so excited about waving to me he nearly drove into the side of me. Occasionally on motorways other discos will "convoy" - just adjust speed slightly to stay in touch.

When we had a Toyota Townace (yes we've been converted from slitty's now) other Towny drivers would flash the light's & wave like maniacs, used to think it was hilarious!!

Since having the Disco's we hardly ever get a nod from the miserable tw@ts around here but everyone has a good stare:crazy: aside from Series drivers who seem friendlier.

But we always let other LR's out (even gaylanders occasionally:doh:) at junctions etc. & always stop to offer help if we see one at the side of a road.

when im on my bike or in my brothers defender i get nods or waves, but when in my disco i dont get anything, as stated most owners just drive them round town i think

goes without saying that any other defender or discovery (apart from D3's, obviously) is "waved out" at junctions and the like, but as for "the nod", that doesn't seem to happen at all down here in deepest east sussex - maybe familiarity breeds contempt, as every other vehicle seems to be a disco on some days, mind......

Out here in Gorfland all Land Rover owners wave/flash there lights except for Gay Landers, RR sports and others that aint cottoned on yet!

I usually nod but from today will wave, I will do it for a couple of weeks to see what reaction I get. If I start getting returned waves I will keep it up.

I'll let you all know the result soon.

I'll continue to put my hand up to Discos anyway whether I get a response or not.
You never know it might brighten someones day :)

always got a nod or wave in my 90 from others defenders even if they was std with a trailer and 3 bails of hay in the back. When my mate borrowed it and broke down the first 90 that came past stopped to see if he needed any help.

Now i have a disco its only other disco's that are tricked out as well that wave. std ones dont bother with, they think your mad.

Bikers always nod even tho i was riding a 50cc scooter....how cool did i feel :)
