I had the oppotunity of a two hour test drive of the top of the range diesel evouge today .It had 29 miles on the clock and only went on as a demo yesterday . The first hour was nothing special but as i started the second hour the car car came to a grinding halt in the middle of the road .It would not start and due to the electronic hand brake i couldnt even move it to the side of the road .The sales man turned up with our car and we left him there to wait for landrover assist to arrive.It felt like it ran out of deisel but was showing a quarter of a tank. I had had no intention of buying one and am not really that surprised at the outcome and the salesman did not seem that surprised.:eek:
 
The Evoque is the biggest insult to Range Rover.....the Sport has grown on me I have to admit as I wasn't a fan when it came out, but this is just a plain insult.....

Makes me wanna slap the face of that Beckham woman even more....and the guy who actually signed off on such a total monstrosity.....
 
I think that in terms of design it is a good looking thing but it's the very first time that Land/Range Rover have built a new model simply because they know it would sell and not because they have a specific market that they are aiming at. Progression of the company and a sign of the times I suppose but there you go.

Very true...but why sully the Range Rover name with such a POS....

Call it a Land Rover Evoque and I'll be a happy bunny as it is probably a decent enough product....but it isn't a Range Rover and it should never have been allowed to be branded as such....it once again cheapens the Range Rover name.....
 
You would think for nearly 50 grand it could get to 100 miles before breaking down:eek:. It was a great advert for it in the middle of the road broken down.:(

I would agree as it drove nothing like a range rover in my opion.
 
I thought it ws closer to £30,000 - £35,000? Also, I can only imagine the reasons for using the Range Rover brand was to A, be able to ask more for it than they could with 'just' the Land Rover name and B, because they would compete directly with the Freelander if it was under the Land Rover banner which would be pointless, it would be like the position they put themselves in when they released Discovery and had to upspec the Range Rover Classic in order to warrant the extra cost of it over the old Disco, besides old Victoria Beckham wouldn't have her name on anything as common as a Land Rover now, would she!?! Lol! :rolleyes:

It was on my list of 'possibles' as a new company car ...
Thats not a good advert for it.
May have to think again then !
 
I have also had a look at it.

What a shame. It simply should be a version of the Land Rover brand. It is without doubt, no Range Rover.

Well it int a landrover is it. Landrovers go offroad. You ladyboys will just have to get used to the fact that there's another Pimp mobile with the Rangey name.. :D
 
Why didn't they just dump the Gaylander, there is, after all, very little visually between it and the disco these days. They should have just dumped a Gaylander Ewok badge on it and be done with it.

I can't abide the fact that some pratt with Lego and a hammer is in charge of design at LR - begs the question what will the next Range Rover will look like
 
Just seen a French Registered Evoque in Poitiers, what with the interior colour and all the glitzy bits it's more Indian temple than rufty tufty off roader. The current Freelander is much better looking and more practical.

It galls me that that pratt is also a nazi pratt. :mad:

And as to why it shouldn't be called a Range Rover, beats me, it looks more like one of them than a PROPER Land Rover.:D

Ah, but it's not being marketed as a rufty tufty off roader, they market it as "All weather, all terrain" or summat like that. They have never claimed it's designed to go where the Defender can. But it does have good off roading abilities though. Like much today, Land Rover have to cater for market desire, if they didn't they would go bust. Just watch how well they will sell.........

Doesn't look much like an off roader to me, it's got the ground clearance of a ferret :)
