I used skoda 1.9 diesels when i used to have a driving school . 200k miles of driving lesson miles easily. Nearly bought hyundai to replace skoda because of 5 year warrenty but it just didnt feel as solid a car as the skoda.

The 1.9PD was one of the last great engines. Shame about what replaced it...
 
I think the Nissan Terrano and the Ford Maverick were basically the same motor. The X-Trail is a different beast entirely. Agree with the comment about the doozils - used to regularly blow turbos, but the petrol ones are fine. My 2.0 petrol has ben a brilliant (kiss if death) motor. Much better than a gaylander1 (petrol).

ah yeah maybe it was a terrano. so whats th word on the terrano/maverick? reliable? any good offroad?
 
Reasonably reliable and value for money from what i heard.i have no idea about off road abilities.
