Hi I need help my l322 tdv8 keeps coming up engine failure and gearbox failure limted gears .it starts up fine drives fine but when stopping at lights it does it.does any one have any ideas

So tell us about your car, cos to help peeps probably need more details.
The first port of call is really the battery, do you have any diagnostics to get some codes?

Hi pal battery good I've checked alternator to giving out 14.5 v on idle checked them when my headlights started flickering .it's a 2008 tdv8 3.6 it's only started doing this since it went below 0degrees it just does it randomly

Did the headlight flickering coincide with the engine fault? - and if so, does it still?

Yeah it did I'm thinking I'm loosing battery power somewhere also my indicators keep going fast but once I move steering wheel they stop

Check the ground points in the engine bay for corrosion and have a look around for rodent damage to the harness to the engine etc.

Continuity checks on both earth and live leads

Or a voltage drop test would be better.
A continuity test won't tell you if the cable/connectors are able to carry high amps.

I had similar on my TDV8, 08 reg, bad earth between engine and chassis. Got a few other bits done (£2000 worth), kept getting gears/engine going into limited performance mode; on a garage test run the engine seized. Be careful...What engine has yours got?
