OK let's go back a bit. Now with the ignition on the diesel is literally spraying out of the plug before I get it all the way undone.. also snapped the plastic thread trying to get it tighten up quickly

didnt you mix something when you connected the FPR or pump or something, it's not supposed to be high pressure at the filter

you undo plug place a container under then switch on ignition, you will need another but a suitable bolt with oring will do

Well there was defiantly pressure just then at the filter! The pipes on regulator are correct, they only connect to the corresponding part. And I don't think I could have mixed anything else up

I did ignition then plug. Oops...Pressure was there for a few seconds then slowed down to the same as it was with ignition off.

undo the exhaust port at the turbo and see if you can smell diesel while you crank it... isnt anybody here to confirm if an auto can be bump started or not?...cos if the crank signal is disturbed by the starter the ECU will not open the injectors

you cant tow an auto off only a manual, unless engine drives auto box oil pump torque converter wont transmit any torque

Let's just try a starter.. used on ebay £40 ish. I can live with that.
Thankyou very much for all your comments gents. Please keep an eye on this thread and I will post some more amateur mechanics dribble soon!!

Untill then rule out the main relay too just to have peace of mind... swap relays R9(main) with R8(heated screen) for test, also are you sure that the crank sensor is good? ... better get cheap new starter than used one IMO

The crank sensor should be good. The car only broke down due to alternator failure. Been stood for about 4 weeks now. Before that the only problems were that it was a bugger to start on cold mornings unless I purged the system. So it's hard to relate with the issue being else where to the areas I've worked in. I.e: alternator, injector seals and I did the oil pump bolt last weekend.. strange little things are the td5

Consider it done, tomorrow evening I will check this one out. In the meantime, battery is charging (again)

Sorry I missed it was an auto. Don't bump start it!

If the voltage drops too low or it doesn't see the crank sensor the injectors won't work.
