hi i have a 2001 td5 auto with 95000 on the clock. back in the middle of november the turbo started screaming so i fitted a new turbo . all was fine for a couple of months now the turbo has started screaming again. i contacted the supplier of the turbo and they stated it was unheard of for a new garrard turbo to go so soon.they said it could be a problem with the oil pump and to check the oil pressure. 1 how do i check the oil pressure. 2 with what do i check it with. anybody out there had simmilar problems? many thanks.

is it deffo the turbo screaming as the manifold it bolts to has warping issues which causes screaming

I'm with johnlad on this one. Its a known problem. the studs sheer and the noise is a whistling from the manifold

Alan, had the same problem with my turbo just before xmas, turbo was changed but when driving it there was still a screaming, got told by the workshop that the manifold had warped and in turn snapped a few of the studs, got manifold skimmed and 'modified' in the process, new studs fitted and hey presto no more screaming

hi. re my problem. found that there were 2 nuts missing from the studs on the exhaust manifold nearest to the bulkhead. purchased 2 brass nuts total cost 50 pence whacked them on and.hey presto no more sceeching. wish all problems were this cheap and quick .it would seem i never needed a new turbo in the first place.many thanks to. johnlad.robashman and cuza 68

Brass will fall apart in time won't stay tight and strip the threads. Stainless with copper coat is way to go and will stay tight
