So my auto td5 has developed a rough idle, runs sweet once driving but as soo as it drops to idle the car shudders.
No fault codes on Hawkeye and no oil in the loom or at ecu, car is a 2004 with 120,000 on the clock, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like injector loom, but this would give a code on Hawkeye and you would maybe notice a different exhaust note.
How long since it had a new injector loom? Its a service item on a Td5.

It’s a new to me car so not much idea on service history. There’s no signs of oil in loom and I had read that the last of the td5’s didn’t suffer from this but I stand to be corrected.
It seems to be quite intermittent, does it more when I’m stationary in drive and less so in reverse. I

Two things that may help.
Whose fuel do you use? I only use Esso, never supermarkets.
When i had a similar problem a few years ago i added 2so to the fuel when filling up.
Seemed to cure problem which has never returned.
Maybe coincidence but i always start with the simplest ideas to fix a problem.
If unfamiliar with adding 2so(two stroke oil) to your fuel just google "Two stroke oil in diesel" and that will keep you reading for hours.
I always add 2so when filling up, runs great and NO smoke either.
Just my own input.
Let us know how you get on

I'm with you on the fuel although my D2 td5 is more tolerant than my volvo xc90 it has a fit if I use cheap fuel.
