Worth having the head pressure tested. They crack, usually at an exhaust port.

Ok, head off, front dowel cracked in two and rear dowel bent like many have posted before.
will locate somewhere locally to get pressure test. do the injector etc have to come out for the pressure test?

Sounds like it's the gasket then, but best to be sure and run a test. Afraid I don't know how they do the pressure test, but any competent place should be able to do it.. Obviously, use metal dowels when putting it back.

Well spoke to the head checking people, they wanted me to strip the head right down, valve injectors the lot. I am lazy so cleaned up the two faces and put a new 3 hole gasket on. All looking good now. Only done 6 miles so car but fingers crossed. The pipes aren't pressurizing and he heater bled up straight away and temp in stable. Will let you know when I have covered 100 miles. Many thanks and good to have to disco back on the road!
