Hello,
I know it's a bit vague as it could be multiple things.

Since i have bought my discovery 2 it loses power intermittently, drives superb but when warm it loses power almost like a limp mode feeling, going up just a slight gradient in third is nearly impossible before having to chuck it into 2nd to build revs to about 3k and then suddenly you get thrown forward, or turning the key off and on seems to work it's not throwing up and codes either.

I have checked the wastegate and that is free, also all the hoses are good. Today I removed the EGR vavle hoping it could be that and although it drives better now without it and for a brief moment I thought I had conquered the power lose issue, it came back .

So I come here to my friends to see if any would has any advice or input, was hoping it would at least throw a code, looking through the service history it had a new fuel pump couple years ago so I dont think it's that either and also new fuel pressure regulator .

Really am scratching my head.

Thank you

Hi,

Thank you for your reply, well mine is a 51 plate but I believe it's the EU3 ...EGR cooler etc, I'm not sure what diagnostic equipment my garage used I know the Snap on didnt work on it.

I am going to invest in a hawkeye or something like that. I was thinking fuel pump at first but it had a new one only a couple years ago less then 15k miles ago. It is only on 114k now, someone did say try the fuel filter.

If it helps I unplugged the MAF and drove it to work and seemed to make it worse if anything I will ask santa for a hawkeye this year Haha

Brilliant that actually looks so much better than the Hawkeye.....will this be ok for me my Disco 2?

Will be ordering one of them shortly

:) That is great to hear, landy is going into the garage on Friday so hopefully further investigation they will be able to find what's causing the intermittent power loss .....I am thinking of changing the actuator and the control module solenoid thing o_O, cant think if really anything else it could be to he honest.

In my experience of using it on my TD5 D2 and my wife's Jaguar XE, the NT530 is absolutely fine. One of the benefits of the Foxwell is that for about £50 you can add other car manufacturers. One of the key differences is that the hardware on the NT520 could not cope with additional model types, whereas the NT530 has no such limitations. They will both cover the vast majority of types, but so far you can buy software for Nissan, Maybach and Mitsiubishi on the NT530 but not the 520. There was also a software issue with BMWs that they could not resolve on the 520 that needed the 530 to fix.

According to Foxwell the 530 has the following improvements:
  1. Advanced hardware with faster running speed.
  2. Adds Maybach,Nissan,Mitsubishi
  3. More complete special functions.

Very interesting but at the same time a bit of a sickener, as wifey has a Citroen Pluriel Sensodrive, and none of them seem to cover it. At least the OBD2 works as I was able to use it to do a lambda sensor on it this summer.
Pleased with my older 520 so far.

It also the model that Foxwell had to replace because the hardware could not support their own software upgrades. The reality is that if all you are using it for is a LR then either will be fine, but the 520 will be a bit slower........and I still use a Hawkeye Total on my D2 for anything except live data, as the 530 is much slower than the Hawkeye.
