be prepared with a new gasket if you remove the FPR cos the gaskets are not reusable, new o-ring won't hurt either

I would say it does it defo 2thousand revs and above even when you floor it, it dont pick up! its fine on the flat it will quite happyly plod on at 70mph no probs! but it dont pick up on low down revs either

Is it likely to make any difference to the motor by me taking the regulator out and cleaning it out?
come on mate lets be real..... no I cant guarantee make a difference ...you don't have to clean the gauze but inspections are always nice ( piece of mind )

if your chasing a fault and you think its fuel related issues why stop at the fuel tank and filter ?
to be honest most diesel engines have some sort of gauze filter in place just located in other places due to the design of injection system .... this stops any inferior filter media from letting go and damaging high tolerance moving parts for example injectors ..injector pumps etc

when I removed my screen gauze I found black deposits of carbon and a small amount of material that is found in in a cloths dryer lint filter
the carbon was from my old combustion washers .... the lint material is unknown but I have suspicions it maybe filter media material

Hi i went to collect my caravan tonight for the first time with my recently bought disco td5 03 reg which i bought 3 months ago but has been off the road due to welding work so not really road tested it before, Anyway i put caravan on the back and set off towards motorway, the first long hill i came too i was down to 2nd gear accelerator flat to floor 20mph, caravan on weighs 1.380kg, so when we eventually got to top of hill we had to turn back! gutted. Anyone any ideas please?
Injectors fuel pump

At a loss with this one! Had ago in a friends today who's pulls like a train! its decatted egr removed but not chipped, it really did go well. Makes mine look like a snail lol
comparing one to another is very hard and to many factors involved ..... but least you have the opportunitie to rule a few things out

maybe swap some engine sensors as well as ecu/ waste gate /waste gate modulator with your friends engine ....... test purposes.... does then your friends engine lack of power

without knowing the history of the engine is also a guessing game

There are many things explained in this thread your right pal, but most have been tried and tested and the motors not much better!

As this was not checked untill now maybe worth a try, the easyest is with tester to see if the brake switch's N/C contact is closed or eventually if you have cruise control this would not work if the contact is open but if it is the ECU reduces fuelling and without cruise control you can't figure that out unless you plug in a tester to check the switch inputs

have you installed a boost gauge ? and what is your boost readings
have you tried disconnected waste gate signal line to see if the engine goes into over boost?
are you also sure the waste gate is fully closing and seating correctly ?

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned yet. But have you checked the injector rockers? I know toooo many people that take the injectors out and forget to set the screws on the rockers to the correct setting and you get quite the lack of power, but it still runs.
