Yes, Personally I noticed no real difference. That I could quantify. Others say how amazing the change was and that the earth moved for them....who knows.

I noticed a 1 psi increase in boost pressure when I deleted my cat ..certainly not noticeable in the drivers seat but my boost gauge did

I do not have any low power issues that I need to chase!...:rolleyes: The readings on my nanocom showed no difference from historical data. Plus, as you have said not noticeable, anyway.

Methinks that there might be a case of information overload here. I have the indicators originally installed by LR, and apart from knowing that the fuel gauge is actually the "fool gauge" and by the time the temperature gauge shows too hot the damage is already done, I don't have to worry about whether I'm getting too much or not enough boost or whether the engine is supplying 130 or 136 bhp. The car drives well and so far I haven't come across a hill that it cannot climb .... yet.

I was agreeing with you I have had vehicles before decatting makes a big difference the reason being we become custom over time how our engines and vehicles perform ..a clogged CAT isn't an over night thing

I also wasn't chasing a power issue but I deleted in always I don't own a nanocom or any diagnostic tool for the td5 but I did notice boost gauge pressure
if you really think 1 psi extra is enough to push you back into the chair fair call

you have a way different mind set
fuel gauge and fools gauge ?

this is why many people install aftermarket mechanical gauges ...like boost gauges oil temp gauges extra coolant gauges pyro gauges even fuel pressure gauges
these gauges wont help you get up a hill ..but it maybe help you diagnose an issue before climbing the hill ..only if you lived near me I am pretty sure there are some hills we both wont climb

drive way or speed bumps isn't really a challenge just saying

1psi in tuning terms when mixed with the correct amount of fuel, is actually quite a rise. But to see the benefits, you'd need a remap.

so I need a remap for a slightly blocked CAT ? ..I was born at night but it wasn't last night

I have no dramas the car has ran good considering the CAT was deleted 3 years ago

as for a remap this is insane for the sake of a 1 psi boost since you never asked what my original boost was

Hahaha, I think you completely misunderstood what I just said. :p

I didn't say it was worth bothering over, but just deleting the cat won't give you a power increase. What it will do, is build intake pressure faster due to having less back pressure enabling a higher flowrate over the turbo's exhaust turbine. ;)

unsure if you understand how a turbo works a blocked cat will create a restriction resulting in lower boost pressure
the turbo does not need back pressure to work and nor does a turbo work on back pressure

the turbo works on kenetic energy.... expanding exhaust gasses ie engine load ..if it cant dispose of these gasses fast enough well this is called a restriction

Yes I know this.... I thought we were talking about the gains from a deleted cat...?

Should also point out that larger intercoolers just result in more turbo lag, situational, really depends what your after.

Depends on the fuel used, how well serviced the vehicle is etc. So if your engine is well maintained, likelihood is the engine isn't chucking too much crap into the catalytic converter, resulting in a good cat. Poorly maintained/driven vehicles will produce more smoke clogging the cat.

The main reason that people notice a significant gain from blanking the EGR is usually because the EGR is stuck in the open position. When the blank is installed, it's worth checking the inlet manifold for restrictions as the carbon build up can become soooo significant that it's like having clogged arteries.

As for deleting the cat, if it's blocked, then yes, you'll notice a significant difference in engine performance. How well do you breathe with a pillow shoved over your face? :p

If anything, the EGR is the only thing not blocking the cat up haha. But it has other detrimental effects instead which in my opinion are worse than clogging the cat.

Yeah a catch can is useful, but the turbo seals will bleed oil over anyway. Lessening the amount of oil being put through the air intake system is probably best though! :D

When I bought my Disco I had already budgeted additional funds for a Nanocom.
 
Unfortunately nanocom can't read EGT and IMO that's VERY important, i've realised that only after i fitted it and followed the readings in many different situations

well I like to watch my gauges constantly other wise I would have to stick a nanocom on the dash permanently

another think I like to add the nanocom cant do is read fuel pressure
