I ask because I went to check one out yesterday to replace our aging Isuzu Bighorn (trooper 3.1TD)
I was expecting similar or slightly better performance as the trucks weigh about the same but the Landy is 25hp and 80nm better off. The Disco I looked at is also a spring chicken at a mere 275000km to my Isuzu's 420,000. I was wrong. The Bighorn, complete with worn out slush box was way quicker (ok, quick is the wrong word).
The Disco is otherwise immaculate and starts easily, idles and runs smoothly. I suspected a lack of boost but there isn't a way to be certain on a quick test drive. It also had a screech that varied according to accelerator pedal angle. Bad turbo?
I will look for a better one but what sort of power can I expect?

sounds like the MAF sensor could be suspect tbh

I have a 3.1 Trooper as well as Disco TD5. As far as towing goes Disco will pi** all over Trooper with full Ifor Williams stock box behind it or the flatbed trailer with tractor on.

Can't get a much better comparison than from a bloke who has both. What about in a drag race? (so to speak) are they both auto?
