Landrover Discovery 2 facelift headlight security bars. Not grills.

If they want 'em they'll get 'em.

I've fitted these security bars to mine but I'm resigned to the fact that it'll only slow them down and make life just a bit more awkward for them.

I gave mine a coat of paint to match the Disco before I fitted them just to make them a little less conspicuous, didn't like the bare stainless steel finish.

Cheapest replacements are on the (in)famous auction site, you'll probably end up buying yours back! The problem will then be that the top mounting holes will have been damaged when they got pulled out.

no not mine but i have bought a pair off him with blue finishers for £200, cheaper than the £320 my local landy breaker wanted, just hope the're not some one elses. Paul

Mine went between 1600 and 1700 hrs last November I live on a country lane with no street lamps ! I went through the insurance total cost ended up £1200 as they had damaged the wiring as well.
Have now land rover original light guards fitted to slow them down !
Sorry to hear you experience I know how it feels !
They are shirt fronts and if I ever meet them !!!

because these lamps are so easy to steal i'm now wary of where to park it and am consindering buying either a disco 3, range rover L322 or sport, do these other vehicles also suffer from the headlights being easily removed ?

or as Mr Noisy suggest is there any one that could weld some form of brackets over the lights in the Halifax area, but of course they would have to be removable for bulb changing purposes, any thoughts

cheers Paul

You change the bulbs from the rear don't you?

Or do you have to remove the lamps to change the bulbs?

Nothing has to lamps stolen regularly other than facelift D2.

I have this setup on my 200:

Obviously fundamentally different and these guards are considerably more heavy duty than you would need as these are for physical vehicle protection rather than security, but the principles are the same.

You would need to weld some brackets under the plastic bumper and then replace the bumper and work from there.

I'm thinking you could have slotted brackets under the bumper with tabs welded to the bottom of the guards, and then simply screw the guards down under the bonnet, this makes them removable for bulb fitting?

The recommended method of changing bulbs (all four per unit) is to remove the whole lighting unit from the front of the vehicle.

Also, there seems to be so much plastic on the front end of the facelift D2 that fitting a whole safety grill might pose a few problems. The only definite method I can think of would be to install a full width unit which would secure both headlight units and the radiator grill.

I see from the picture of your very nice D2 you have a security bar on your lights. Could you please tell me where I can get some?

I have a 2004 D2 and I am just changing the reg from UK to French which means changing the headlights. Having now just bought got the left hand drive ones I would like to try and keep them where they are supposed to be.

I like your idea of a full width grille. May look into that and incorporate mountings for front spots. I've just been on that well known auction site and I can find light guards for all discoveries but not one for the D2 which has the most thefts. Someone with a good product maybe missing a good money maker.

Unfortunately it looks like the headlight anti-theft bars are no longer available on ebay at the moment.

You could always try to contact the seller where I bought mine to see if he has any more; his ebayID is shimbles2007.

They were made from 6mm diameter stainless steel rod, bent to shape to fit. they cost about £40 for the pair with all the fittings.

Standard D2 lamp guards as far as I can see but appear to be 1. Plastic and 2. Screwed on externally, thus no security improvement, unless my eyes deceive me?
