Can anyone help ,i recently purchased a 2004 TD5 with 34,000 miles on the clock but every now and again normally around 2750 revs but can happen at other times the car seems to jerk a bit as if i was running out of fuel ,if i put the clutch down and rev it ,it seems to clear.the problem also seems to get worse as soon as i get to a 1/4 of a tank ,could it be a fuel filter ?

Certainly sounds like a filter. When was it last serviced?
If you change it yourself remember to follow the priming procedure. Just try a search for this I know it is on here as I used it myself.
