Does anyone know of or tried a td5 clutch pedal box upgrade on a 300tdi , selling on ebay genuine td5 pedal boxes as an upgrade mod to older defenders , with assistance spring . ??? sure my 1996 300tdi has the curly snail spring already , are they different

No, but I can highly highly recommend the LOF clutch master cyclinder - I fitted one a month ago and it’s stunning how much lighter it makes the clutch!!

I did look at them , sadly im to late now as got the standard trw . Are there only 2 types of clutch pedal boxes , over centre or the normal long springs .
A replacement clutch pedal box for my 1996 300tdi with over centre spring assist is £40 cheaper than the td5 with o/centre spring assist , Listed as an upgrade .

do they mean an upgrade IF YOU DONT have the over centre assist type fitted , OR is there something else thats different .

that’s exactly what they mean, the over centre spring is an upgrade if you have the long spring.

try the LoF Over centre spring - it’s stronger than the landrover one and is cheap as chips

thanks , so theres no third magical pedal box . Been looking at the LOF spring , may get one if you say they are worth it . £30 cheapest i can find .

May as well get the LOF spring with the money ive saved not buying the so called upgrade that i already have .

Not sure i want or need it that light . I like the idea of the LOF spring though . At my trunnion on the m/cyl rod there's a lot of slope , and its difficult to adjust and get the free play right , both at the pedal and the cylinder free float .
So ive opted for a new pedal box assembly . But im now more concerned that all the ones i can find have the same part number , and the adjuster bolt is at the bottom which adjusts the pedal travel not the height .
