Shouting at tourists - surely not? Well so long as they get out of my way when I'm riding my bike anyway.

Tbh tourists over here seem in the main to be quite a nice bunch, but with a land mass of about 5 times that of the UK and about the same population - there's a lot more space. Around here we don't have a "Grockles" problem like in the New Forest or West Country.

Living in the lakes theres too many tourists :mad: but you need them for income so its a catch 22

I cant stand them though as they arrive and clog the roads, drive the wrong way on the one way systems and are just a general nuisance. You lot seem to have the better deal tourist wise
 
I really want my TD5 D2 fitted with a lower-stall-speed V8 Torque Converter, but cannot justify the cost. I will wait for automatic gearbox/torque converter problems, and have the V8 converter and drive/flex plate fitted at the same time.

As a stop-gap, I may use a simple manual electric torque converter lock-up switch, as discussed on other forums, to bring in the converter lock up before 52 mph. I attach a simple wiring diagram of connections made to the Transmission ECU under the front passenger seat, below the entertainment system amplifier.

The live additional latching relay feed is taken from the brake light switch, so the converter unlocks when the brakes are applied, to prevent the vehicle stalling the engine as the vehicle stops.

Someone using the Ashcroft name has been posting questions on the LR Australia website, concerning which wires the standard vehicle uses to lock up the converter, so perhaps a mod kit may be available in the future from them.

That's a very interesting idea, can you give me a link to where this is being discussed please, I would like to know if someone is using this and how are they getting on.

Hi Dave, Head on over to the excellent The D2 Boys website, and look under Mods / Upgrades, then to the Heavy Duty Torque Converter thread, I think it was.

Someone remembered this switch mod being done by another D2 owner, and they were trying to find the actual website thread; I don't know the outcome.

Ideally I think the Torque Converter Lock-Up Switch would be best fitted to the steering wheel, although I doubt there are any spare circuits on the steering column Rotary Coupler.

An electronics unit that could be set to an actual Torque Converter lock-up road speed would be very nice, a nice project for someone. I'm sure it would be well received.
