Ive recently brought a 2001 td5 disco 2. Im sorting a few issues out on it but i have one thats really annoying and quite dangerous.

Over 60 Mph if i apply the brake pedal (no matter how gently) the abs goes mad and causes the brake to pedal to resist as if im on ice. It causes the brakes to be very inefficient. Below 60mph its fine.

I have a snap on ethos and have no ABS fault codes.
Also whats very annoying is that when i try to read the live data about what the abs wheel speed sensors are doing etc as soon as you travel over 10mph it kicks you out.

Has anyone else had this problem
 
Finally fixed it.
All abs teeth looked good.

I found that if i unplugged an abs sensor one at a time the fault went away when the front right was unplugged.

I changed the hub and sensor and all is good.
 
that was a rudimentary fix though and very lucky move cos as long as you unplug a sensor the 3 amigos must come and the ABS will be disabled on that axle completely... so that fault with the ABS kicking in should have been gone even with the front left sensor unplugged provided that the fault was on that axle... good for you anyway
 
You're very brave, running around with ABS sensors disconnected etc. You must have the biggest set of balls on this site!

Some of us learned to drive when ABS was science fiction. Ordinary brakes weren't much use either.......
 
I remember seeing cars with stickers on the back warning that they had these new fangled disc brakes fitted so the rest of us with our cable operated all round drums had better stay a bit further back.

Yup have owned cars that had unservoed drums all round, was taught high speed driving techniques by South Yorks police for blue light runs in some pretty basic vehicles.
Just thought that running with ABS sensors or sensor disconnected would potentially cause dangerous imbalances in the SLABS and therefore critical failure of the system?

We had a MkII jaguar until recently, and that came as standard with a chrome badge on the rear bumper proudly announcing it had front disc brakes :)
