Replaced front to rear brake pipe from brave bias valve to rear flexi. That was a giggle!
It joins the bias valve via a double ended male.
It runs from valve, to NSF chassis top, between the fuel send and rtn pipes, then runs along top of chassis and pops over the edge nr the transfer box and continues cliped up high on NS chassi to flexi,I popped it out of the clip on NSF chassis top, with my fingers, it just disintergrated :eek::eek:. Total Horror show.
Check yours NOW!
When i changed the A frame, where it meets rear flexi it was corroded, again i rubbed with my fingers and straight away 'spurt'! So had to change it anyway, Engine to chassis looks brand new, Chassis inside face to rear , same tip top. Soon as it goes top side of chassis fubar all the way.
My scrap metal collection is getting too big, time for trip to dump me thinks.
A frame, 4 stub axles, 2 x Swivels, 2 xCV's, 4 x drive shafts, 4 drove flanges x 2 calipers, a shed load of rusty bolts, x4 brake shields, and some brake pipe dust :D:D:D

You make me feel so lazy with your service work! Keep up the good work mate , Has spurred me on the order leaking camshaft seel tho :)

haha same! I keep saving dropping bits of money into the pot but haven’t bought the bearings, swivels etc yet. Like me your probably due a lot of this thread content. What mileage are you both on out of interest?

Lol so I get bored v easily, cant sit still hence Im currently building :
12x 8m x 5.5hApex Timber frame car port / workshop / office, (so i can fit a x2 post lift) & a 8x8m Timber frame recording studio, (to save the cows from my drumming) I tend to buy the bits i need then sit on them for a few months, then when I decide to pull me finger out I have what I need to hand.;)

Def Mileage is approx 123K

A frame has made a real difference, not just ride but noise, no more creaks n squeaks, oh yea and the rear of the truck no longer appears in my passenger mirror and looks like it wants to over take me.:p:D

Seriously gents, when you remove the first swivel, chop the crucible off and use it as jig in a vice like I did. (you will need a big grinder / paddy saw) or settle in for a few days with a hacksaw....its feckin hard metal!
Its SO much easier than trying to work with the little bugger moving about like a star wars droid thing on the bench. You only have to do it once, then you sorted!
You could always make a jig i spose.....depends how good you are at drilling and welding.
@bankz5152 now there's a thought, would take you 10 mins to knock one up!
I remember about 25 years ago my pal had a series, or tractor with no doors as i referred to it then, and we did what i referred to as the 'silver ball thing' swap on it.
FFS I got so sick of holding that thing still while he fanny'd around building it up, he refused to put it in a vice, fair play to him, you don't want to mark it else the seal is useless etc.

RAPTOR ME LIKEY.
Been experimenting with other bedliners, this gives me the exact finish i want 'rough and thick as fook' lol!
Going to do the whole truck in it,
Matt Gunmetal grey, with whisper blue tint,
Matt black Roof and chequer plates.

Its still wet in the pics, and took me I remember now why am not keen to 2K painting again!
P3A1 min mask etc. It stanks...,

Make sure your 120% as it doesn’t come off easily! I was going to do the disco in an almost olive drab raptor. Easy to spray diy and tough as nails for laning etc. i was planning to do both inside and out before putting them sound deadening in

Yep ive been wanting to do for 2 years now, never gonna sell i need it for where i live, not really a laner not my thing, but i do have 1.2km of dirt track to my house and a foookooff hill (AKA mudclimb) so from about now till spring its my daily driver.

My defender only really goes off-road during trout season and on the odd shoot or around the farm I use. However, it carries everything from dogs to rods to tools to build my other Land Rover lol. Sometimes I think why haven’t I got a comfy car then other times I thibk im so glad I haven’t got a boring car. Very strange relationship!

I thibk it would look hard as nails in gun metal grey. Bmw used to do a colour called pewter grey that was so nice. Different finish and application though obviously!

know what you mean, but then ive been there, done that over the years had a Merc SL55, SL350, SL500 Vehicross, Spitfire, Camper vans, Yank Pick up, Maersati 3200GT, but grew up and moved on as you do in life!
but i love my fender...... I have a VW Caddy DSG work horse su-fooking-perb bit of kit (VW tdi golf with no back seats) and a S type Jag shed (to keep the mrs happy when we go out!

I like the gunmetal but have been playing paint mixing and with a tiny hint of powder blue makes a nice difference (think the same difference between merc silver today and fiat silver in the 80's lol)

I want a cl500 terribly. One day. Yeah I’d have a caddy over a company car any day of week! I am toiling with the idea is an ls430 or an import crown in the future but got three landy projects on go that I can’t keep up with!!

you sound like me!!, I am getting a SL350, good compromise ( I do like the x 2 fridges ) and me comforts, so that will swap out the jag daily driver and for us at weekends. I would really like a 1980's unimog .... one day!]
