Having just reread the entire thread clearly you mention the ECU and it is as I expected by it not being in place, how have you got on so far with getting the cc to work.G

I have not gone any further as been too busy to look at what's required but on another forum, I was advised that another ECU plus switches for pedals & gearstick were required and were very expensive, can anyone confirm, 54 plate TD4 auto.

Hi Cagey, For the TD4 Auto only (not do-able on the manual)
There is a CC ECU needed - it fits under the drivers seat to a plug on the tunnel loom - if you ain't got a plug then you may as well give up on retro-fitting the standard set-up unless you're up for a real project build.
Have a good look around under the carpet for the plug - details are in the RAVE.
There is a dash switch and the wheel paddles are needed and the Main ECU will need the code to interwork with the CC ECU (another grey area - some do / some don't) - the TD4 system uses signals from the ABS unit (road speed), the auto box ECU and Main ECU to control the engine fueling and deliver the CC. This is all done by the ECU's talking to each other over the CAN bus - even the CC lamp on the dash is controlled via the CAN bus.
There are no pedal switches or other wierd stuff on the TD4 system it's all electronic - it's the petrol models that have vac. pumps and potentiometers and special cables and tubes etc.

Thanks for the info, I have fitted the switches already, but didn't see the ECU under the seat, as It's got a 6CD autochanger fitted, It's a TD4 HSE. I'll have another look, hope the cable is there somewhere, 54 plate if this helps any.

Like ours - look for the slit in the carpet behind the changer. You will have to get right under the carpet to check it out.
I took the whole seat out - only a few torx screws but it makes the looking around a lot easier and the checking out under the dash/pedal area - just be careful about the SRS system.

lAs we're now on holiday, I had a proper look and located the muti pin socket and wiring under the seat. Any ideas where to find a relay to make the system work (I'm aware I'll need testbook to enable ECU) but need to get this sorted out soon, as hed fitted the switches a while ago. We're away until the 1st of August, will appreciate any replies for a source of relays, not found on e.bay today.

A relay is not what you need. Your after the cruise control ecu. Do a search for scb100211. Apparently it's best to get a second hand one out of a Freelander as then it's already programmed.

ive got a 2002 td4 3 door auto and have been reading the post of the problems youve been having.

personally i bought an on/off master switch, which cost me under a tenner from the main dealer, a complete steering wheel off ebay, which came with 2 x leads that plugged directly into the multi connector plug that was already there under the steering wheel

got a second hand ecu of ebay and i think i i paid around £30.00

i plugged it all in went up the road, got to above 30 miles an hour, turn on the master switch, pushed the resume switch the light came up onto the dashboard then got it up to 60mph pushed the set button and the cruise came on and took my foot of the pedal, as soon as i touched the brake pedal the cruise turned off straight away.

i didnt have to do anything elso, nor did i have to plug it into any autologic or T4 system.

this is my own personal experiance

on reading posts i noticed you havent plugged in an ecu which you should find the connector plug under the drivers seat behind the carpet.with a small slit in it

if you search on here for cruise control i posted all the pictures of the plug etc

you said you cut wires under the steering wheel, they should have all been there so you can plug everything into it, as i went into this in great detail and found that if any of the wiring loom is missing walk away as it will cost a fortune.

i can only go on what i did and can assure you i didnt have to activate it, a new ecu costs nearly £300 so thats why i looked on ebay and got a bargin.

hope you get it sorted out, plus meant to say all the land rover dealers told me it was impossible , it wouldnt work without plugging it into there T4 machine and was going to charge me in excess of £100 to plug it in.

even when i took my freelander back to the land rover workshop they still didnt believe me, i wasnt trying to be smug but just to show them not to belive everything that head office tell them.

i hope you get it sorted out and dont have too much grief, would be nice to know how many others do this.

lastly my 3 door freelander use to be the commercial van type so its the base model so i assume they fit the same loom to all the other models but dont know about the facelift model.

Still trying to find a used SCB100212, or 100211 for that matter. Looks like no-one has any, tried Fleabay and heaps of breakers. Only one I can see in a new SCB100201 at a Rover club for Rover 75, not wanting to pay £70 plus delivery for this. Anyone have one in their shed or know of one in existence

should there be another part that works on the vacuum i can not think what the part is called but they are not fitted before hand you have to fit one does your cruise control go off if you touch the brake like it should

Mine still awaiting the ECU, had a message from a Roverrugby breaker yesterday, they have ECU's, and mine is the facelifted model auto, works via canbus apparently.

yes ok but what I am saying you should have another part I will try to find out what it is called and I am sure it has to do with the braking so it knocks the cruise off when brakes are applied

on the td4 auto, this signal is generated via the brake pedal switch which signals the ecu which then signals the cruise control ecu

hey guys, anybody has extra paddle switch for sale??? i tried to look in ebay but nobody has it..i found a few in ebay US but postage is not cheap.

Well, finally, received the SCB100211 ECU yesterday, plugged in and guess what ..........
















IT WORKS !!!!

Flick on SET in steering wheel, then raise + and speed increases by 1mph increments unless held on, raises until switch let go. Dab brakes, cruise drops out, flick either + to resume what speed vehicle is now at or hold + to increase again. Move RES other way, cruise cancelled until RES is initiated again. Hit RES twice, cruise is switched off. Cruise master switch needs to be depressed to enable cruise again.

Happy as complete cost under £100, and all wiring was in place, only bought master switch, steering wheel switches & 2nd hand ECU, doddle to fit.

Note, if new ECU purchased, and found some for £130 at dealers, they need to be programmed on Testbook T4 at L.R.Dealers before they will operate, 2nd hand ones are already enabled.

could you clarify which part number do i need for my freelander td4 2001 ? got confused which one , YUH100731LNF or YUH100730LNF. i found cc switch at britpart but YUH100731LNF is for 2002 freelander and YUH100730LNF is already obsolete.

Mine is a 2004 facelifted model, does your one have switches around the instrument binnacle. I got wrong one first time from Craddocks, they checked against chassis number second time around, maybe e.mail them first

yeah. mine is pre facelit model that has switches around the instrument binnacle. i'm pretty sure that master cc switch is YUH100440KML at the centre console.i just confused with paddle switch part number.

Hi guys... just to report that I have successfully fitted CC to my 2002 TD4 Auto thanks to the help of you guys and lots of reading from your posts! Got all the bits from ebay at about £100 for the lot! Plugged in and sorted straight away!
