Hi Pals.
I have a much loved Freelander with a long running problem. Having looked through the search/ archive I have tried to solve this by fitting a new MAF Sensor and then a Turbo solenoid at the back of the engine. It has a EGR Bypass fitted and the pipe work is blocked to stop that duck call effect when shutting down as recommended by this Forum. The problem is that on long hill runs, either motorway or road it quiet quickly runs out of steam and pressing the throttle to the floor makes no difference at all. No warning lights come on and once passed the incline things return back to normal. On the flat, it's back to normal. It will accelerate no problem, In very cold weather it can be a bit smokey and run not at it's best for a minute, but thats it. At 118.000mls and having been serviced by myself every year using fully Synth and only doing 5thou a year, I would welcome any help.
Don't want to part really, with what has been a really good Motor for the last near Ten years.
Thanks in advance for you time and advice.
Cheers

The first thing I'd do is replace all the vacuum pipes, as it sounds like there's a loss of vacuum with sustained full power operation.

I'm assuming you do the fuel filter and vacuum filter at the services? Next thing might be to might be to hook an obd2 reader in data recorder mode, and cause the fault by driving up a hill and read the logs from to see whats going on. As Nodge says vacuum hoses are a good, cheap, and easy to fix solution that may bring you some joy, as these hoses are rubber that hides behind the braiding and while they may look ok they are often perished.

Thanks for your replies.
I always complete a full service, so no issues there. Will have a go at the vacuum pipes.
Any recommended type to to fit and supplier would be very welcome Pals.
Thanks for your time.

Thanks Andy.
I changed the boost solenoid after reading that post. I has not cured the problem. Trying to locate the right pipe work to see if that cures it. Any advice for a reliable product welcome.
Cheers all.

I just bought cotton covered rubber off ebay. Worked fine. Couple of metres does all. Think it was 3mm internal.
