You may have an air lock following the pemp removal..do you have fuel at the injector pump?
Are the glow plug and "Injector" lights on the dash lit when you switch on?

I replaced the tank pump, drove 200 miles start stopped 10 times then suddenly just not firing. I can only think of a resync as this so sudden. No symptoms previously running perfect .
Really stumped me!

Slackening the nut and watching for a free flow of fuel....no bubbles or farts whilst it is cranking ensures that the fuel system is air lock free.
If you have fuel feed and the injector pump is doing it's job, you should be able to start the beast.
Resynching only allows the glow plug relay and starter to work as they are controlled by the Becm/engine ecu handshake which comes down to the code stored in the Becm matching the engine ecu code.
I repeat, you need the Glow plug & Injector light on before you can start the engine...if you have only one of these, chances are it needs a resynch. if you have both then the chances are you are not getting fuel through.

Should those lights be on all the time when cranking? What the correct light sequence ? Can an air lock happen at anytime? What causes it to happen suddenly?

Ok I just checked again, I'm stuck here without tools... but I looked at the dash while trying to start , both the glowplug and injector lights are on. Not sure what else to check....

No they should not, Injector light and plug light should come on as you switch on. Injector light goes out before plug light when plug light goes out start cranking. Check the connections to the fuel shut off valve on the FIP. Make sure when ignition is on this valve is actuated. Otherwise it will never start.

The fuel shut off valve where is it and what does it look like ? Is it mechanical and/or electronics?
Is a first thing to replace? Will a diagnoatic computer scan pick this up?

It is a solenoid valve fitted on the injection pump. Sticks up at back L/H side of pump. Check wires to it. Make sure it clicks when ignition is turned on.

I think I am going to stick this thread for updates- however I made a boo boo and posted a question on the other thread about the stop valve clicking if it is working, but if it is clicking then what is the next thing to try?

Sorry for hogging the forum with my questions- but i think everyone can learn from my experience here!
